Is DH BU to let DD1 (12) watch Deadpool?

We are arguing.

It's an 18. Graphic violence and nudity and a fuckton of swearing.

DD1 of course is claiming that Eeeeevverrryyyyooonnnnne has seen it.

Has anyone seen it? Is it really that bad? I wouldn't mind watching it myself but I don't think we should let her.

OMG no way is it suitable for a 12yo. Honestly you will regret it.

No fucking way is it suitable.

It's a 15 I think isn't it? The sex is quite graphic though, including a scene where he gets fucked from behind by his girlfriend using a strap on...

I wouldn't let mine. It's so graphic in places that I had to turn away. Swearing is very frequent f words. There are a couple of sex scenes and some very crude sexual jokes. Watch it yourself first. It's brilliant but definitely NOT a kids film.

Afaik it's a fifteen not eighteen, but no. I haven't let DS (13) watch it either.

At leat watch it first. It is 18 in most countries, I'm really not sure why its a 15 in the UK. I wouldn't let my 15 yo watch it.

No no no - definitely not suitable! I'm 27 and I felt like even I was too young for it. 😂

Is he trying to be a cool dad? Hmm

My 13 yr old DS has not seen it.

Let kids be kids for a bit

Nope. Just nope. It is a great film. But not suitable for anyone under 15. TBH, i'm not sure why it didn't get an 18 rating. Sex. Graphic violence. Rather crude language.

No,no! Ds is 9 and loves superhero movies. I am a walkover of a parent, but it was a minute and a half into Deadpool when I decided he wasn't seeing it until he was 18.

Unless you want to explain a slightly ambiguous scene to you dd as 'she was shagging him with a strap on' turn it off NOW!

It's a 15. How, I have no clue. Maybe because it didn't drop the c-bomd. That's probably the only swear word not in it.

It's a 15. Give it a watch and see how you feel. I imagine most of her friends probably have seen it.

No way should a 12yo be watching it! I was also surprised it didn't get rated 18.

Umbongo that's what she says.

She also says she will "just watch it on her own" when we are not around, we are out tomorrow night and on a transatlantic plane next week.........

No way OP. Even with an adult with them, it's nowhere near suitable for a 12 y/o

Report
dimots · 19/07/2016 19:09

Must admit I was surprised it wasn't an 18, although the violence tends to be cartoony type like most Marvel films, rather than brutal such as the initial scenes in 'Saving Private Ryan'

If you'd let her watch game of thrones without any concern then go for it (but anyone who lets their 12 yo watch GOT needs their head examined)

Pretty sure our Sky+ parental controls would stop the first one of those happening though.

The only one chez Hearts who watches GOT is Mr Hearts.

I watched it with my 13yo he is quite intelligent and isn't fazed by sexuality/nudity. He has quite a good understanding of the different between TV violence and movie fantasy violence.

So I guess its down to individual children, but most of his classmates at school have watched it. They see a lot worse on the play station..

I know a lot of mothers are very precious of their DC but this is what children watch now, no biggy.

No - it's very graphic, violent and the language is pretty full on. Not my usual kind of film but I ended up enjoying it as it was quite funny and Ryan Reynolds is quite good in it.

Definitely not suitable for a 12 y/o though.
