I swish a load of bubbles into the paddling pool at around 6pm and call that bathtime?

RatOnnaStick Tue 19-Jul-16 14:23:17

Nope. Assuming you'll scrub the grotty bits (of your child) same as in the bath and empty the water out (rather than leaving the pool festering til morning) I really don't see the issue at all.

ktkaboom Tue 19-Jul-16 14:27:27

My mum and nan always did this with me and my siblings and I do it with mine they love it!!

DerelictMyBalls Tue 19-Jul-16 14:29:06

Haha! Nah. It will be a laugh.

FastWindow Tue 19-Jul-16 14:31:27

Bubbles go straight in as soon as the pools up here!

Funby enough, ive just abandoned my attempt at blowing one of the damn things up. Ive tried using one of my balloon pumps and broken it, can't find the good one, and blew ten breaths before deciding i was going to faint.

Tips anyone?!

FastWindow Tue 19-Jul-16 14:32:13

Funny* although Funby sounds like a great place.

Threepineapples Tue 19-Jul-16 14:33:06

Great idea, I miss the paddling pool days

(Yes we could have one now but I'm too tight to have an adult size one for two days of summer)

DownstairsMixUp Tue 19-Jul-16 14:35:47

Nope, go ahead! I was hoping on using our new hot tub (boast) but it's actually too hot for it.

Fast

Do you have a car pump that plugs in to a ciggy lighter?
And a car...
They usually have a little adaptor.

almostthirty Tue 19-Jul-16 14:37:55

Brilliant idea!

Swirlingasong Tue 19-Jul-16 14:38:59

I thought that was normal in this sort of weather?

WannaBeAWarhol Tue 19-Jul-16 14:39:38

Fast
Cut the end off a bottle and put the neck over the hole, put your hairdryer on cold and blow it into the bottle! Puts the paddling pool up in seconds.

phoolani Tue 19-Jul-16 14:42:50

I would judge you completely - as a forward-thinking, solution-based individual who I would like to have as s neighbour (can never be arsed to fill our paddling pool).

Nabootique Tue 19-Jul-16 14:55:29

I was thinking about doing this! Didn't occur to me it wouldn't be totally acceptable and an excellent time saver, as well as conserving water!

SatsukiKusakabe Tue 19-Jul-16 14:55:49

When I had one I did this all the time. Now there are two they conspire to make the pool so muddy and awful it's not possible.

Zucker Tue 19-Jul-16 14:58:07

No judgement here. In fact it sounds like a genius plan grin

MrHannahSnell Tue 19-Jul-16 15:02:20

Assuming you don't have a dog OP, then go for it. If you do have one, don't do it. Bitter experience here.

GiraffesAndButterflies Tue 19-Jul-16 16:04:41

I don't have a dog, haha can only imagine how that would go!

My DM is judging me but biting her lip not to tell me so. grin I'm comforting her with the reassurance that tomorrow is clean beds day and not telling her that I would do it anyway

Coffeethrowtrampbitch Tue 19-Jul-16 16:07:34

That is a great idea, I judge you to be a genius and I will copy you if I can keep the kitten from puncturing the pool!

mogloveseggs Tue 19-Jul-16 16:09:34

Fab idea!

Inshock73 Tue 19-Jul-16 16:38:38

I did this last night smile used head to toe body wash and even washed hair. Little one loved and I wished I could shower in the garden on a hot day. smile

Inshock73 Tue 19-Jul-16 16:39:25

Typo - little one loved it.

roomonmybroom Tue 19-Jul-16 16:46:34

My DS used to love this when he was smaller, bubble bath, washing up liquid, shower gel, anything that made loads of bubbles was fine here.
Sadly he is a teenager now so barely leaves his room!

toadgirl Tue 19-Jul-16 16:48:31

Don't have kids myself, but I think this is a wonderful idea!

It's the kind of stuff the kids will remember as the most fun bath time ever grin

I remember the non-routine things like that from my childhood.

Ilovenannyplum Tue 19-Jul-16 16:49:07

So I'll be pinching your idea grin That's genius!
