AIBU?

to feel like a drudge

I'm a lone parent. My dds' dad doesn't contribute in any way. I work 4 days a week. I can't afford things that might make my life easier like a cleaner or school dinners. I'm so tired and fed up of the endless cooking and cleaning and laundry.

my kids are very good. They contribute in whatever ways they can, like folding laundry or picking up mess (which admittedly they created themselves!) But it's just the tip of the iceberg.

I like being a mum but I hate the drudgery. Does anyone else feel this way?

That's nothing to do with being a lone. Life is fairly drudge-full most of the time - it's all routine of washing/cooking/cleaning.
There should be time for good bits though, and that's what keeps us going.
If the drudge bit is really, seriously getting you down perhaps you should talk to someone professional.

I feel like that already and my DD is only 6 months old and I'm just surviving right now. I work full time and love my work but the bottle, bath, burp and bed routine is hard going and I find it hard to be positive about the job of being mum. But don't turn out like my poor sister in law with three kids and a lot of regret about relationships, money and opportunity. If you can find something of your own that you can focus on It might give you another dimension to life. I really recommend the book "I can make you Rich" by Paul Mcckenna. It really does help on the money front but more importantly helps you get you focus on the joy of your day to day life. I've just bought my second copy and I'm going to do it again (post baby) because it was hugely helpful.
