Mortgage application referred to underwriter

Our mortgage has been referred to underwriters with TSB, i think this is due to OH being Self employed.

It has been there a week and still no answer, however, our mortgage advisor is on annual leave.

No survey has been instructed either.

Any advice??

Ring the mortgage company. I'm sure they can update you.

Underwriters can take ages but chase it up anyway. If you're turned down for any reason I would suggest getting a mortgage broker to get you a mortgage. You shouldn't have to pay for the service as they will be paid by the mortgage company for bringing them a new client. We used one due to not having the time or inclination to look through loads of lenders for the best deal.

Sounds normal. DP chased our mortgage application frequently to ensure we had the offer swiftly.

Don't worry. Exactly the same for us with TSB last week. I think we were told on Tuesday or Wednesday (pretty sure it was Wednesday actually) that it was being referred to the underwriters, we heard back on Friday that all is ok and they are gonna lend to us!!

We are similar, First time buyers and applied for a mortgage with help to buy (Scotland) via Broker for New Build a week ago today and as of yet still nothing back. We know it has been sent to the underwriters and we knew this on Thursday but still no update so getting a bit nervous...

We also have solicitor missives in and approaching contract signing dates etc but just wary as no mortgage update yet :(
