I'm currently staying at the Camping and Caravan Club campsite at Keswick.

Every notice appears to be titled "Polite Notice".

AIBU in wanting to rip them all down for ridiculousness.

The C&CC is a professional business and we are all paying customers of it.... As such they shouldn't have to tell us it's a polite notice - it should just BE a polite notice....

YANBU

They should be titled "Lighthearted Notice"

Just for shits n giggles.

ThoraGruntwhistle Sat 16-Jul-16 11:39:49

You're right, it shouldn't need to be pointed out that's it's polite. Are the signs otherwise rudely worded? confused
Eg

Polite notice

Stop flooding the motherfucking shower rooms, ass monkeys.

Yanbu. Those notices feel the antithesis of polite to me.

I have to type and display "polite notice" posters at work. We were told in training they had to be polite notices and not passive aggressive hmm

Polite notice
to the dirty fuckers who don't clean up after themselves and think their mum is at work to tidy up after them please put your dirty cups in the dishwasher.

Polite notice
you scuzzy scum bag please use the bin provided for sanitary products leaving used tarpons on the floor next to said bin is fucking disgusting

They make me itch with rage when I type them

I thought they were done that way so at a glance it looks like police notice. Certainly the ones near here about keeping speed down near school are like that

Get lots of emails at work that contain "gentle reminders" about meetings etc.
Rather than big bash you over the head ones I suppose.

EarthboundMisfit Sat 16-Jul-16 11:43:50

To make a notice truly Polite, important words, like 'Poo', should be capitalised and, ideally, underlined.

Hissy Sat 16-Jul-16 11:44:04

Alter them...

Sharpie

IM in front of the polite

Job done!

Bathsheba Sat 16-Jul-16 11:45:03

It is things like

Polite Notice - Children must be supervised whist using the facilities

And

Polite Notice - remember to clean up after your dog in the camping field as people have to camp there and don't want dog poo

StealthPolarBear Sat 16-Jul-16 11:45:29

The word gentle used like that really irritates me. Especially on here. "I would sit her down and gently tell her..."
Makes me think of hand holding, shoulder patting and whispering.

Sooverthis Sat 16-Jul-16 11:46:30

I get reminder, stock allocations notices etc texts from my head office ALL starting with 'polite reminder' enraged me I so wish it didn't I really want to text Fuck off knob cheese back

Sooverthis Sat 16-Jul-16 11:47:30

Enrages not enraged not sure why this spell check wishes to change tense for me angry

SaggyNaggy Sat 16-Jul-16 11:57:53

They should all just say:
"Oi.... You..... Nooooo"

squidgyapple Sat 16-Jul-16 12:05:21

Where I used to work we had to visit another site to do part of our jobs there. This was always a difficult as we didn't really get on with the people who worked in the other place... anyway they had tea and coffee which we were allowed to help ourselves to as long as we put some cash in their pot.

On one occasion a notice went up, directed at us visitors, which read ' it has been noticed and commented on that people are helping themselves to the tea and coffee without paying the donation...'

It was the totally unnecessary 'and commented on' that gave me the rage.

TSSDNCOP Sat 16-Jul-16 12:05:25

The politer and gentler the notice, the more it has to effect of making me wilfully do the thing I'm being asked not to do.

SirChenjin Sat 16-Jul-16 12:06:11

It's because some people get offended by being 'told' what to do even though it's pretty fucking obvious that they should do it and so the word "polite" acts to soften the blow to the delicate snowflakes.

Lorelei76 Sat 16-Jul-16 12:08:59

I'd be tempted to put a post it over with "rude" written on.

BurnTheBlackSuit Sat 16-Jul-16 12:15:04

We have a notice at work that reads "please leave the toilet as you wish to find it - clean"

The explanation of "clean" at the end amuses me greatly.

Hassled Sat 16-Jul-16 12:18:24

Oh god I'm guilty of sending "gentle reminders". It's because a large part of my job involves nagging people about stuff and I want them to like me. Now they don't like me because I send "gentle reminders". I'm fucked either way really, aren't I?

pictish Sat 16-Jul-16 12:18:47

Rude notice - keep your unruly spawn under control in the facilities. It's not a fucking playpark.

Rude notice - pick up your dog's shit for fuck's sake. It's a campsite not a giant fucking latrine.

Print those out and pop them alongside.

WorraLiberty Sat 16-Jul-16 12:25:18

pictish grin grin
