To think the boys shoes past size 12.5 in clarks are horrid

My son is reception age, but he's tall and has big feet and so has grown out of the junior range.

The shoes in the junior range seem quirky and they have things like dinosaurs and planes on them. Once you get to size 13, it's all football boots and plain ugly shoes. What's wrong with doing the junior range a bit bigger? Not every boy likes football! Maybe they'd like shoes with a light up dinosaur on them!

This is such a petty problem, and I realise I probably sound a bit entitled. But would it be such an effort for them to do a pair of shoes that isn't a football boot, or checked loafers (What five year old wears loafers. ).

We have the opposite problem. Ds is 12 now & a size 1 ba couple of years ago we really struggled to find shoes that were not babyish.

The football boots are an addition to their range of trainers. They are not shoes as such are they?

Try startrite or an independent shoe shop that stocks geox etc.

I got dd's in m and s last time as clarks didn't have a single suitable pair (size 6 feet in yr 5)

You are definitely not being unreasonable! I hate older boys clothes. I wish my son (age 4) still fitted in toddler size because they are much more fun. We will be buying our first school shoes in a couple of weeks...

Living The school shoes aren't that bad, they do dinosaur ones which my son loves (and makes me feel a little better about the other less than stellar selection of shoes).

Oh Startrite. They were part of my school uniform until I was 15. T bar clunkers. And fawn coloured socks.

I went to boarding school, and once we got to the 5th form, we were taken on a mini-bus into town for an hour on Fridays after lessons. We had to wear full uniform, complete with our "Reggies", (regulation shoes) and straw boaters.

*Just had a look at their website, and they're nothing like the brown chunkers I had to wear!

Completely agree. Similar problems in clothes everywhere too...! Ds is 4 and size 11 in shoes and age 7 in clothes and all the cute prints seem to stop! Can't find anything I really like in the larger sizes.

And no Doodles particularly Doodles sandals - I love those and my reception boy is too big for them this year. The size 1 sandals are not as nice and twice the price!

My boys live in trainers from preschool age as they want to be like their big brother

The girls shoes are rubbish once you get over 10.5, they suddenly become very grown up with paper thin soles which is no use for an almost 5 year old (my little girl had big feet!!)
I've been buying startrite/primigi/Bellamy lately.

Just been on Clarks looking at girls school shoes and lots of people complaining that the girls shoes get too grown up too quickly. The really cute ones stop at 9.5
