I have my best friends wedding in 10 weeks and i would like to lose weight for it. Im currently 12st and fed up feeling fat and frumpy at only 24 Sad i know i to need to change my eating habits but i dont know where to start. Ive been very self concious of my stomach since i had ds 13 months ago and its my main problem area. Im not able to get to fitness classes readily as im on my own with ds. Any advice and help would be very greatly appreciated

Pretty simple really. Make sensible choices with your food re fat and sugar. Cut down on the carbs. Portion control. Drink lots of water, and don't snack.

Get out walking with DS in the Pram, and do lunges, squats and push ups in the house when he is in bed.

PS you've got 10 weeks, can you join slimming world? You can take DC along to meetings.

Don't eat any bread, rice, pasta or potatoes.

Yeah, agree with that, join slimming world. You'll lost 7lbs in the first 2-3 weeks, then 1-3lbs every week after that. And it'll keep your motivation going for the whole 10 weeks. If you do it alone you'll probably struggle around 4 weeks.

A little bit of yoga/ yogalates on DVD in the evening will make you feel stronger through your core and less aware of your tummy, without being such intense exercise that it drives your appetite wild. Weight loss is mainly about what you eat, not what you do.

If you need to do something specific to close split abdo muscles, this is good:

Try doing a 30 day Whole30. DH and I did one in April, I lost 11lbs, he lost 15lb.

We're both doing another at the moment as we just felt so much healthier whilst doing it and each put a few lbs back on.

Eat lots of veg soup with chilli in. It's very filling.

You've got quite a bit of time to drop some weight. I'd go low carbs and up the walking. Cut out sugar and processed foods. Leafy greens and fruit are your friends. Drink water. Plan meals so you don't fall off the wagon.

I've lost a stone and a half in a few weeks on Exante shakes. I don't bother with the meals as they are mostly vile but the shakes are nice, and quite filling.

You can often get 12 weeks for the price of 10 offers -that's about £50. I would recommend the 12 week journal to track your progress. It's really helpful to write everything down.

If you really need to comfort eat in the evening, winding down once baby is in bed, there are lots of things you can eat on SW so that you feel like you can still do that. Nothing is really completely out. Avoiding a whole food group like carbs for 10 weeks might just be too punishing.

Cool, then join us on the slimming world forums!

Yes, try to reduce carbs, but cutting out totally is unsubstainable and the weight will just go back on as soon as you come off the diet.

I think boredom and lonliness play a part in my comfort eating too. There is a class on mondays at 5:30 and its a 10min walk away that im going to join. And joining the sw forum would be good too

A lot depends on how motivated you are. If you need someone to weigh you weekly and keep you on track I'd say join SW or WW.
If you're very motivated to do it on your own it's very doable. I'm 20lbs lighter than I was in April through a combination of moving more and eating less (really low carbs, lots of veg, at least 2L water, no sugar)
I've found MFP has helped and as I track everything I eat it makes me think twice about the naughty stuff.

I struggled to get a stone off for years - I was 11.7 stone so similar weight to you. Just decided one day I was going to do it, this is what helped. I bought some electric weighing scales and weigh food - cereal, cheese, everything that wasn't pre weighed (ie Weetabix). I could then see where I was going wrong - I was having double the portion of things such as cereal that I should have been having. I got organised, took lunches to work every day. I split meals into 3 x 400 calories and had a couple of snacks. I did gentle walks, only twice a week but big benefits.

Once I got half a stone off, it was a massive boost, I can fit into clothes I never thought I would. People noticed and that kept me going. I feel SO much better. Good luck OP, you will feel great, just keep thinking of yourself at the wedding feeling good.

I went from 79.6 kilos to 71.5 kilos on the paleo diet. I felt very well on it too and it made me much more aware of the carbs I'm eating.

Forgot a vital bit - I gave up bread. Just had water biscuits as a substitute and got used to them. I love bread but didn't miss it like I thought. I introduced it again but weighed if not already sliced with calorie value stated.

Go on a vegan diet. I did this for veganuary and I lost weight but wasn't hungary. I should do it again.
