The pettiest debate ever

Me and dh have just had a debate over.......

Hotdogs Grin

He says it should go roll, onions and the sausage on top

I said its bread, sausage and then onions on top.

So entertain me and tell me what is the correct way of assembling the hot dog.

I know in the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter as it goes into your mouth all at once but damn it, it's the principle!

Bread sausage onions. He's wrong

You completely missed out the tomato sauce & mustard. I don't think I can take this issue seriously.

He is being ridiculous. Has he had a drink?

Aesthetically, it's your way

But for pure taste and lack of mess, it's his way. With ketchup and mustard on the bun before onion then sausage on top. With more ketchup and mustard

If you put onions on first, they don't fall off....

Report
HoneyDragon · 07/07/2016 16:03

It's better with onions underneath. I'm with your dh.

Bread sausage onions

The onions are a garnish along with the mustard.

Vixster99 · 07/07/2016 16:04

sausage on top. that way the onions are less likely to fall off before it gets to your mouth.

(but I hate them anyway)

I don't like onions.

god god, it goes....

bun, sausage, onions with mustard/ketchup on top.

as every civilised person knows

Split the bun across the top.

Squeeze mustard and/or ketchup down the bun crack Wink

Add sausage then drizzle mustard and/or ketchup on the sausage in a zigzag.

Add onions. Boiled or fried, not those dried monstrosities they use in Europe sometimes.

Bread, onions, sausage, MORE onions, squiggly line of ketchup, squiggly line of American mustard. Has to be squiggly or the entire meal is ruined.

See we compromise in the end.

who ever serves, serves it the way that person likes. So I'll it his way for him and my way for me.

Still a good debate though

Oh don't even mention splitting the bun!!

Forgot about that part!

He used to slit it on its side. Nooooo you always cut the top!

I've always put the onions on top....but what a great idea to put them on the bun first - no more spillage!

Practically his way is best mess wise. Nobody can eat one of those things cleanly.

Report
hazeyjane · 07/07/2016 16:15

practical doesn't come in to it. You are supposed to have a bit of mustardy ketchup dribbling down your chin and your arm. It's what makes hotdogs the ideal first date food.

Onions underneath. Less wastage.

Onions on top

Pack his bags and leave them on the drive, right this minute.

I wrap a slice or bread around the whole thing. Keeps it contained much better.

Boiled onion, though? What depravity is this?

Report
RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 07/07/2016 17:17

Onions underneath, then ketchup, then sausage.

It's so much neater.

That sounds quite mild compared to the scone wars we have. Jam first or cream first?????

I'm vegetarian, but quite like onions in a roll [misses the point]
