AIBU?

To think the Ryanair 24 hr "grace period" is a con and that this is a disgraceful company..

I made a genuine booking mistake last night but didn't panic as the FAQ said that this would be covered by the 24hr grace period if you get in touch.

Since then, I have tried:

  • web chat: seemed down last night, blocked at my work, and not working from my phone
  • contact form: eventually "worked" after many attempts, no response to my appeal to call me
  • call centre: I have been on hold all day, got through once and when I'd picked the new flights and went to pay difference, he put me on hold and hung up on me.

This 24hr grace period thing - it's a con, right? I feel I have been robbed to the tune of £400.

Do I have any comeback on PayPal?

Is there not a cancel option on your booking.

Absolute shower of bastards.

I still am a little bit in love with the bloke who changed his name by deed poll to reflect his mistake rather than pay them to change the booking.

Can you tweet them/do a complaint. Not sure if Ryanair care of even achknowledge complaints but worth a try

Live chat really is your best option, but it works best during the day when they have operators at work. The phone lines are awful and social media is likely to take too long, and then they'll just tell you it's outside the grace period.

You can login (may meed to set up an account with them) and change the flights yourself with Norwegian are you sure that's not an option?

Tweet them. I've never managed to get anywhere with their official ways of contact but as soon as you take it public they start sorting things out pretty quickly. Good luck!

I found them very helpful when I had a problem.

And it was your mistake, so no, not robbed at all.

I'm rather embarrassed as this is the worst AIBU.. I finally got through again, and when I was nearly done with the switch, the phone went dead again leaving me ready to boil..
Then I got a mail.. The guy had gone through with it!! He even switched over the seating as per the original reservation.

Thanks George in Ryanair! Hope they treat you better than they do their customers but I can't fault you at all.
