I'm thin but do next to no exercise and eat absolute crap. Does anyone want to share daily food/exercise diaries at all? What are your goals?

I want to build muscle and lose the cellulite that I have. Anyone else?

I decided a few weeks ago that I needed to start living healthier. I went over to the NHS website for some ideas. Their 12 week weight loss plan has loads of useful tips and there's a really friendly, supportive community. People talk about exercise and meal ideas as well as weight loss.

I've also treated myself to a fitbit. I used to do zero exercise, but I'm finding it very motivating and manage to meet my step, distance and calorie targets most days.

I don't really need to lose weight - just tone up. I'm very slim but really unhealthy. A typical day for me is -

  • frosties, milk
  • crisps, apple, chocolate biscuit
  • sausage roll/pasty, bag of mini cookies
  • ready meal/pizza & chips etc

I drink hot chocolate & coke

I'm not worried about my weight but am scared for my healthy tbh

Although it's aimed at people wanting to lose weight, there are loads of good meal ideas.

I've been looking on the diabetes uk website because my dp was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and really needs to lose weight. We'd got into a bit of a rut and were cooking the same few meals all the time.
I'm trying to cook from scratch more and eat more balanced food.

I've also bought a couple of books by Michael Mosley. He's really interesting about the dangers of too much sugary and processed food. He also talks about the importance of building muscle and has some good ideas for that too.

I think you're right to worry about your health if that's a typical day. I downloaded "myfitnesspal" - it's a free app. If you log everything you eat (not as much hassle as it sounds because you can scan barcodes) it will total up your calories, but also give you a nutrition breakdown so that you know whether you are having enough protein, vitamins etc. Then you have an idea of what you need to look for when meal planning.

Thank you for response. I'm ashamed to say that's a typical day. I've just got in a rut of eating shite. As of tomorrow though, I plan to turn it around. Tomorrow I plan to have:

  • Porridge, banana
  • Apple, grapes, yogurt
  • Chicken pasta salad, satsuma
  • Cheese pizza (shop bought whoops)

I'll also go for a run 😊

That sounds loads better. One thing that helped us was making a menu. We printed off loads of recipes, made a Saturday to Thursday menu (Friday night is still takeaway night!) and then bought just what would be needed for those recipes.

I also took lots of unopened packets and tins down to the local Foodbank. It's much easier to resist temptation if there's nothing tempting in the house.

What really surprised me is that even though I'm eating less (and you 'll probably find the same through eating differently rather than less) and exercising for the first time in my life, so burning more calories, I've actually got loads more energy.

This is exactly the thread I need! I'm slim but as I'm getting older could definetly do with a bit of toning up, improve my fitness which is shocking as I've never exercised and eating less junk! So, I'll be checking back for motivation.

Hi Mel, what's your plan for today? I'm thinking I'll allow myself a small treat daily so I stick at it, otherwise I'll end up pigging out! 😁 my plan for today has changed slightly:

  • Weetabix & banana & milk
  • Apple, grapes, club bar
  • Salmon & cucumber wholemeal sandwich, satsuma
  • Cheese pizza

Unless someone can suggest an alternative for the choccy?

I'll join this thread too, I've always been slim but was recently diagnosed with a chronic health condition and the medication has made me put weight on quite rapidly. I struggle with exercise as it leaves inflames my condition (even none strenuous activities).

Op I use options hot chocolates for my chocolate treat-only 30 calories and in a range of flavours.

Hi Midnight 😊
I think I'll swap the club bar for a yogurt... Have plenty of those, and they must be better than a chocolate bar 😊

Oooo can I join in with this...I am very slim but eat so badly and have been thinking I should probably set a better example to my young daughter as well. I am so lazy and would rather snack then eat proper food. I often eat a packet of biscuits for lunch and then skip dinner etc! I need to up my fruit and veg as well as cut down on the crap. I have been buying 'no sugar' snacks recently but yesterday ate a packet of jam and creams so went a bit pear shaped again.

My plan for today is:
Breakfast - eat at least something, anything, as I usually skip breakfast altogether
Snack - fruit - usually chocolate
Lunch - cheese sandwich and fruit - usually sandwich, crisps and more chocolate
Dinner - salmon salad - this is what I'd have anyway

My goal is to get a bit of exercise in even if it's a 10 minute walk as I go everywhere in the car so get literally no exercise!

Hope everyone has successful day! Rome wasn't built in a day though Grin so my aims are very small!

Hey everyone 😊 I'm ashamed to say yesterday was yet again atrocious food wise. I had:

  • 2 Weetabix, milk, banana
  • Apple, grapes, choc bar
  • Sandwich, satsuma
  • 4 slices pizza, 3 slices garlic bread, cornetto
  • Multiple choc brioche, loads of crackers, a babybel, McFlurry, mini roll & some grapes

That's quite bad 😞 back on track today 😊 Plan is:
  • 2 Weetabix, milk, kiwi, Satsuma
  • Banana, grapes, apple
  • Wholemeal tuna wrap, side salad
  • 3 egg omelette, 1 sausage, 1 slice toast

Hopefully ill stick to it 😁
