AIBU?

To think that it's time Classism became as much of a No-no as Racism, Sexism or Homophobia?

Yes but it isn't "seen" is it. It's not an area mnhq are invested in!

I doubt now is the time that its gonna happen

No, maybe not the week to raise it, but it's getting so blatant!

Babyboomers and the working class are the new immigrants.

'White trash' was deleted with impressive speed yesterday.

The first is not a protected characteristic. The other three are.

White trash is odious. It really says more about the person saying it than anything else.

I know. Hence 'Starting with' MN.

I don't know whether to link to couple of other current threads. Probably not fair. But it's only making me ponder recent trends more generally. It's not just about this week.

I think the ageism is worse.

I find it patronising that the protection is needed, tbh.

I'm in a low and benefit level area. I've worked on min wage, until I did a BA.

I never knew that the patronising attitude towards people who are happy in a Min Wage job, existed, that is displayed on here.

I wish that I would have known that only earning that level, meant that I didn't have to give a shit about how it was done and that I was a person to be pitied (which would have meant that I got away with murder).

The Working Class, are educated these days and we aren't a minority, so no special protection needed.

It's nice to know who the bigots are. If only they realised the extent of their stupidity, they'd never make it public.

There's a riff on a current thread about 'jobless, toothless, curd chewing Jeremy Vile types'

Yes the ageism is appalling but MNHQ have taken a stand on that.

Jee-zus. We don't need any more "isms". The ones you descirbe have caused damage enough. How about being kind, loving and human, as far as we can be?

Just5minswithDacre · 25/06/2016 18:23

And maybe I'm fortunate but I don't hear the ageism IRL. I do hear the poor-bashing IRL.

Terrible that either have become even slightly acceptable anywhere.

That would be ideal.

People don't seem to manage it though, do they?

The ageism posts have been staggering. Truely hope it's a tiny tiny number of people with that mentality.

The ageism is bad.
The cloth ear on class can be funny, but is sometimes both offensive and sad.

I was once deleted for saying someone sounded like my teenager.. ooh what a nasty personal attack..(like being savaged by a dead sheep!)

So The whole deletion policy has me shaking my head anyway. Anyway It's just MN!
