Yesterday I voted to leave after months of thought about all the main issues regarding membership.

I decided to leave based on sovereignty, I don't want a closer EU/United States Of Europe. I don't want my son to be in an EU army.

Immigration and economics for me were lesser issues. But still influenced my vote.

The names on here and Twitter that have been directed at leave voters has astonished me.

I am not uneducated, racist or xenophobic. I simply want the best for my country and that IMO is leave and I am overjoyed with the victory today against all odds.

Maybe if those on the remain side looked more into the arguments instead of name calling it would have been a different result.

It shocks me that labour supporters on Twitter are saying these horrible names against leave voters, but they need us to get their seats in the north, I don't think it is a good idea to insult your own base.

Even on mumsnet rhetoric has been appalling, I have had posters say they can't bring themselves to speak to leave voting parents.

Why can't you just accept maybe that leave possibly has a better campaign/arguments.

This idea that many leave voters regret the vote is wrong, everyone I know who voted leave is in a joyous mode today.

Can we just move on now and accept the result instead of insulting 52% of the population.

Thank you, I feel the same as working class person there finally seems like hope today.

No I haven't caused people to lose their jobs.

Labour voters who elected Blair caused people to die in Iraq.

See how stupid that logic is.

Ok, so tell us how. How did economics affect your vote? What's going to be better about it in a post-EU world?

It's not 52% of the population, it's 52% of the people who voted. Just saying!

Well, you'll regret this when the UK breaks up and England and Wales are isolated and treated as social outcasts by the rest of Europe. You'll regret it when Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage are in charge.

YABU.

There's lot of threads on here were people afraid for their jobs and futures but lets have yet another one about a leave voter's hurt feelings.

I'm afraid that when you do something that will cost people their jobs (never mind everything else) you have to expect some anger directed at you. I suggest you go and be "joyous" elsewhere if you expect anything else.

EU army? Wtf! and on what planet did you really think that could happen? The leave campaign was based on lies, Farage proved that this morning when he said they got the figures wrong re the NHS

Thanks for your contribution though.

How am I supposed to vote based on other people. I can only vote based on my own circumstances. If others may lose their jobs that's up to them to vote based on that.

As a mid 20's person on zero hours that has to compete with immigrants that will work under min wage for cash in hand, I voted leave and am happy too, it can't get worse for us mid 20's underclass. Worst thing that can happen is all those college degree people will feel the hurt with us and their house prices will drop well boo hoo try getting a mortage on a zero hour contract. None of this will be worse for us there is a chance for hope things will get better now for the british working classes.

OP did you realise when Scotland leaves the Union we won't be allowed to call ourselves either Great Britain or the United Kingdom any more? (Since the Acts of Union will have been dissolved).

Are you happy for "your country" in ten years' time to have a different name, different flag? (We won't be able to use the Union flag either - it symbolises the Union of England, Scotland and Wales).

The Union Jack will disappear into history. We will no longer be able to call ourselves Britain, great or not, as that is the constitutional name for the Kingdoms of England and Scotland.

Was this what you wanted, a completely new country with a new name?

Why are you moaning on here?

You got what you voted for and the rest of us are supremely unhappy about it.
I don't want to hear your whining.

I'm a Scot who wanted to remain in the EU like the majority of Scots.

Now we're all being plunged into economic chaos so don't expect any sympathy from me.

I am not sad, I don't claim to speak for WC either.

I am sick of the backlash people get simply for having a different opinion.
