there seems to be a trend on here sometimes for some people to follow the 'popular choice' on subjects that might be controversial, some will stick their heads over the parapet and risk getting flamed but most will stick to the 'right' choice. i bet there are posters on here today who voted to leave, saw the slagging off and decided to declare themselves as remain.
just a thought - ready for my hair singeing ! smile

I don't think so - most of the analysis I've seen says that well off, more highly educated people voted to remain, which fits well with the MN demographic.

If you went on Nethuns, i bet a lot of them would have voted leave.

I think, when there have been elections/referenda, MN has been shown over and over again to be unrepresentative of the electorate as a whole.

ghostyslovesheep Fri 24-Jun-16 14:38:01

nope I voted remain - because it was the right choice

SeriousCreativeBlock Fri 24-Jun-16 14:39:26

No I genuinely voted remain.

Mistigri Fri 24-Jun-16 14:39:33

I'm sure MN is very unrepresentative of the UK as a whole, if only because most members will be under 45 and many under 30. These groups voted for remain.

I voted remain.

Pootles2010 Fri 24-Jun-16 14:41:03

The other thing is, you tend to surround yourself with like minded people, read papers that agree with you, etc, confirmation bias I think it's called?

So you're more likely to hang out somewhere like MN if most people agree with you.

Sgoinneal Fri 24-Jun-16 14:44:17

I voted remain

MidnightRunner87 Fri 24-Jun-16 14:44:34

Nope I genuinely voted remain as did dh absolutely gutted today

You understand this is an anonymous forum, right? What have you got to lose by declaring yourself as Leave? you can always namechange if you're embarrassed.

Costacoffeeplease Fri 24-Jun-16 14:47:15

I voted remain, so did my husband - happy to tell anyone who asks

MrsTerryPratchett Fri 24-Jun-16 14:48:54

I agree it's demographics.

TheDuchessOfArbroathsHat Fri 24-Jun-16 14:48:55

I voted remain and would do so again in a heartbeat.

Buttock Fri 24-Jun-16 14:50:07

I voted remain. I'm really sad and scared about our future today.

BocaDeTrucha Fri 24-Jun-16 14:51:54

I genuinely voted remain, and now feel genuinely scared.

SquidgeyMidgey Fri 24-Jun-16 14:53:13

I voted remain, honestly I did smile

VenusOfWillendorf Fri 24-Jun-16 14:53:55

Given this is a parenting website, I would expect a very large majority to vote Remain. The next generation has just lost the right to live and work in 27 other countries. In terms of loss of opportunites and experiances, that's a pretty oor legacy to hand down to them.

Whizzyloofah Fri 24-Jun-16 14:54:03

I voted leave, have no reservations whatsoever in revealing it, either. I'm proud of my choice and believe it was the right one for the long term. I'm not racist, nor am I uneducated. I am shocked at the hysteria and name calling from some of the remain camp.

Notsure1234 Fri 24-Jun-16 14:54:36

I voted remain, as did dh.

OiWithThePoodlesAlready Fri 24-Jun-16 14:55:00

Me! And all my friends and family.

I'm in Scotland though so we are in the majority.

ilovesooty Fri 24-Jun-16 14:55:38

I voted remain and am stunned and sickened today.

ExasperatedAlmostAlways Fri 24-Jun-16 14:55:40

I did as did my husband all of my family and most of my friends. I'm in Scotland though. I also voted No in our Indyref before anyone brings up wanting independence but to remain in the EU.

AnUtterIdiot Fri 24-Jun-16 14:56:23

I voted remain, and so did virtually all of the people I know. The social media thing is a bit of an echo chamber. By and large your friends tend to have the same broad political agenda as you do. The fact that Leave won doesn't mean I doubt that people told me the truth about which way they were voting.

TheManaha Fri 24-Jun-16 14:56:46

Whoever cares about a strangers opinion on the Internet is extremely weird and insecure.
Some people voted in and some out. Out won why is this whole section full of threads on this. Move on if you don't like the results move out.
Really simple
