is this job real or a scam?

So I applied to be a nanny for 2 young girls, got a message back from the father to contact him on his private email with cv, sent this through. He then replied with this email -

Thank you for getting back to me.My name is Paul,I works in a recording company as a studio manager and I've been awarded a job contract in the Belfast just for 6 months and I will be returning back immediately after completing my work. Passing away on my wife was a big lost and I want the best for my children as I have promised my wife after her death.Now, I am in need of someone who is going to be taking care of our 2 children aged 4 years and 1 year old.I promise that my children are very intelligent,smart and fun to be with.

Actually,my cousin will be taking care of the kids but I'm employing you to support her in looking after the children so that she can have her private life.I have already made an arrangement for a driver who will be taking you and my children out at any necessary time.My family will be moving to a new house somewhere not far from you but I have not yet confirm the address from the estate agent.I will let you know the address immediately I confirm it.

You will be paid £300 every week and you will be working 5 hours,3 or 4 days in a week(another option:if you're not available for work during the days of the week,you can choose to work on weekends).You can agree with the days of work with my cousin when we meet in person.

Myself,my cousin and my children would be arriving 2 weeks and I would want to secure your service before the arrival of my children,I want to be sure if you are truly serious about the work?.

I really hope you are ready for this and I hope you have a very good and caring heart,I promise you will fully enjoy the company of my children.I am going to be in charge of paying your wages and your wages would be paid every 2 weeks,your wages will be paid in form of a Cheque or Payment Directly to your bank account.I hope you are okay with that....

Scam! Could be a money scam, could be something like human trafficking.

Scam. That doesn't sound like a native English speaker, so I doubt his real name is Paul. Did he ask for your bank details? It sounds like one of those Western Union rental scams (wife died, wants to know u are serious etc). If he asks you to transfer money to yourself or something then you will KNOW it's a scam.

Yes 100% scam I used to get these, they will next send you a link, when you click on this it will hack your computer.

Also there is another one which they say you must apply via the application form, when you download it is a virus which will hack you

Scam. They collect personal information. Sometimes they ask for cash further down the line, sometimes they claim the referencing company needs details like your mothers maiden name... Giving them lots of your details.

It sounds very much like a scam to me - the weird turn of phrase, the fact he seems to want to employ you to look after his children without ever having met you, employing a "driver" to ferry you around whenever you want... All sounds very dodgy.

He's hired you without meeting you? To look after his so-precious children?

And English is not his first language. And the "My family will be moving to a new house somewhere not far from you" is a giveway. If he's said we're moving to Leicester because you live in Leicester then okay. The generic "somewhere not far from you" is so he can use that phrase over and over and not have to tailor it to an individual's location.

And the constant talk about payment is so that you will offer up your bank details quickly when asked.

This is screaming scam to me. All very odd and why does he want you to buy toys and games?

Yes, this is a scam. This exact scenario comes up all the time on sites like Aupair world. I can't remember exactly what happens but it is something like they transfer a large sum of money to you to cover travel expenses, buying toys for the children or something similar. The money is more than you need and they ask you to send back the overpayment by Western Union. Once you have done that, it turns out that their original payment to you was fraudulent and gets reversed out by the bank, leaving you out of pocket.
