AIBU?

AIBU about a 6 grand cruise?

Dandelionsmakeyouwee · 14/06/2016 17:52

Spent all yesterday and today looking for holidays and have found one with P&O cruises. 8 nights around the Caribbean, in a suite which apparently has butler service! Plus all the other cool things such as kids club and night time nursery for my 3 year old.
Also get £550 to spend on board.

We haven't been on holiday for nearly 4 years, am I being unreasonable to want a 6k holiday? even if it's just 8 nights? I probably am aren't I :/

It all depends on what that £6000 means to you really doesn't it? If you can afford it then it's money well spent. If it's going to leave you struggling then it's ridiculous and you could get a week somewhere fabulous for a third of that. I'm not sure we can really tell if YABU or not.

I suppose it all depends on if you can afford it.
If it's going on credit. No.

If you can afford it but will have to eat beans on toast and Aldi soup alone for the next year. No.

If you can afford it but it means you might have to forgo you third pair of louboutins for that month. Yes, why not.

If you can afford it go for it!

Although personally I cannot imagine relaxing for a moment with my two on a cruise ship...

Sounds great. We used to take our children on cruises when they were little and they loved them.

We can afford it, without having to scrimp and scrape.

It honestly sounded like the best given that we haven't had our honeymoon yet, and so this would be a honeymoon/first holiday for our child.

Is that 12K then for both of you?

It's a bit of an odd question to post. Either you want it or not.

there are probably going to be people thinking you are stealth boasting/ rubbing their noses in it who can't afford such luxury.

It's a bit like flying club class. It's fine if you want it, but my acquaintance who boasts about it on Facebook and posts pics of his ticket and champagne is a knob.

Sounds lovely, thb 6K for a cruise around the Caribean in a suite and with spends sound really good.
Would your toddler copoe with the heat? Apart from that I'd say, we're only here once, go for it!

do you need to avoid Zika areas? if you do then I would say don't do it.

if you don't then why not. its your money. spend it on what you want to.

Ooh you've just inspired me to go and have a look at their website. I want to go away somewhere at the end of August before DD1 starts school but I have visions of them being huge places of running, screaming children causing havoc and there being no escape. Do you think DD1 and Dd2 (aged 2) would like it? DP would probably be sold on the idea of copious amounts of rum.

That sounds like the select fare. If you wait you'll get it massively cheaper on a saver fare. Or, you'll get something longer, probably 2 wks for the same price. There are pros and cons. Happy to go into detail if you like! But overall YANBU, cruises are absolutely amazing Smile

Just to add, if you haven't already, do check carefully that your child would be able to share that suite. I had a lot of bizarre aggro when trying to book a cabin for 3. The websites are not always clear. Would suggest checking direct with P&O.

6k each? Yes, if you can afford it.

If you have it, why not? Butler service? Wow. I've been on some cruises, they are awesome! Going with my family on another one this Summer. Not with butler service, though.

It is very expensive, but on a cruise you won't need spending money for meals and the 550 should cover your drinks.

I've not been on a cruise myself, but did look at doing one several times and it is worth shopping around to see if you can get a better deal.

I've never been on a cruise but £6000 for three(?) of you around the Caribbean including flights and all meals sounds not too bad, depending on if you can afford it?

Have you looked on Disney cruise line? They do Caribbean cruises and are obviously v child friendly.

Report
jay55 · 14/06/2016 18:50

Do you have to pay on top of that for excursions? How much will tips be for the butler and the rest? I'd look at what else I could get for the money but the idea of a cruise is not for me.

I would love to go on a Disney cruise even if it is the naffest thing possible.

Report
Dandelionsmakeyouwee · 14/06/2016 18:54

It does include flights, full board, for three. I did check with them directly, they said our 3 year old can share with us in the suite.

goneclubbing so if I wait for saver fare, baring in mind that this is their last suite available on this cruise, it's much cheaper?
