AIBU?

AIBU or is the woman that works on the hot chicken counter in morrisons?

Monday night dd is at rainbows, no point going home so I nip into morrisons for some chicken bites and a garlic and herb dip and if anyone thinks that is unreasonable then they clearly haven't experienced the delight that is hot chicken bites

Got to the counter and asked for a portion of 5 chicken bites

There were 6 in the tray and she actually gave me 5, leaving one left in the tray!

Portion sizes are 5 or 10

No one is going to buy 1 chicken bite!

It looked so lonely sitting there

Surely she should have just chucked an extra chicken bite into the bag?

You are right and she is wrong. YANBU

She was blatantly going to eat it herself. Safer than setting a precedent of 6 for 5!

If about to close, yes nice to give it you but maybe there were more ready to go in the tray, maybe she's been told not to give free food. I wouldn't let it stress you too much.

Yep. That's her reward for a long dull shift on the Morrison's chicken counter. Good on her.

Maybe there were 24 almost ready to come out the oven?

YABU for reminding me how much I miss working near Morrisons and their hot chicken counter.
It does seem odd, I often used to end up with a couple tossed in free. Grin

But I suppose technically she is only selling 5.

Seriously? Do you really just expect free food because you happened to be there at that particular moment? And then post on here about it? It really isn't such a big deal.

This is light hearted yes?

Why did you ask for 5 if you could see there were only 6 left. Bet that last one felt you didn't care....

YABU. All it takes is giving an extra one to the wrong person or the wrong person spotting her doing it and she's on her way to being sacked. I wouldn't risk it for the sake of one chicken bite.

PreciousVagine · 13/06/2016 19:28

And YABU also because now I want chicken and have none Grin

A man on the butchers counter in Morrisons gave me two free rashers of bacon when I asked for eight and it left two lonely rashers. Best day ever!

It's not her chicken bite to chuck anywhere. Chicken bites don't have feelings. So although it may have looked lonely, I can guarantee it wasn't!

My husband works for Morrisons, they're not allowed to give out more than the serving, if there was a manager nearby or someone reported her she could of got the sack. Not worth her job over.

Or she could just have been saving it for herself, they massively reduce everything in my husbands store at an hour or so before closing. So she may have more in the oven and have been waiting for them to be reduced to get them herself.

Yeah, sure, she should have risked her job to give you a free chicken bite because you wanted it and were too mean to pay for 5 :-/ You do realise that shops sack their workers for theft? They would have assumed that she stole it.

YABVVVU. Retail staff aren't allowed to give away free food/goods - it's one of the most basic principles.

They obviously do have feelings, and the potato wedges -otherwise they wouldn't jump into the other trays to say hello to each other!

I can't believe people are taking this seriously Grin if ever a thread didn't need a 'lighthearted warning'...

Just feel sorry for the poor soul who bought 5 and got 4 or 10 and got 9.

I often get freebies at Sainsburys, twice I've had an extra lamb chop and several times I've had extra parma ham, I once got a huge end piece thrown in.

Even though I'm a little fat fucker I must look undernourished. Grin

Agree that she (sadly) probably feared being caught and getting into trouble.

What are these chicken bites? Are they like chicken nuggets?
