AIBU?

to have eaten them all

I've had a shitty day. I knew with a new baby (9 weeks) there are good days and bad days, today has been a bad one.
DS has screamed pretty much all day, I tried to take the dog and baby for a walk and he continued to scream, so much so that I got dirty looks from a couple passing us, it was horrible.
I then started to cry, the dog started eating a massive shit (bloody Labradors will eat anything) and DS screamed a bit more.

Therefore the only solution was to come home and eat a huge bag of malteasers, even though I'm trying very hard to lose weight and eat sensibly.

AIBU in giving myself a hard time for cracking and eating chocolate when I'm supposed to be dieting, or is it ok to crack every now and then?

You were completely justified to eat the Maltesers, in fact, if you want you can buy another pack and eat them too.

Today is a bad day, tomorrow will be better, and this whole phase will pass in he blink of an eye (I am told, I'm currently pregnant with my first).

Has DS stopped with the screaming now?

Xx

Not unreasonable.
You only had a baby 9 weeks ago don't worry to much about losing weight yet it will come off in time once your get out and about pushing the pram and with healthy eating.
A bag of malteasers won't hurt and there is always tomorrow

Maltesers dont count as chocolate (they barely have any), doesnt count if eaten walking and definately dont count if needed for medicinal purposes.

Sorry you had a crap day.

Handing you an extra emergency bag for tomorrow.

I've eaten a family bag of malteasers today as well but I do not have the excuse of a screaming new born, I just ate them because I am a pig! Tomorrow's another day, like you say good days and bad days. Your doing fine and just continue with the malteasers. X

Thank you Smile I feel ridiculous and tearful today, I think I'm just exhausted. DS has been fast asleep on me for the last two hours, poor wee thing has worn himself out.

DH will be home soon so I can hand DS over and have a cup of tea then.

I guess the hard days are just a bit harder when you've had a run of good days!

You had a baby nine weeks ago, go you for being out and about & walking the dog.

Maltesers aren't chocolate they're air mostly.

I go by the rule of thumb that it took me nine months to put the weight on therefore it should take around a year to get back to something resembling pre pregnancy weight.

Don't beat yourself up about it. Do something happy and comforting, enjoy the rest of your day.

Awww I remember it well. Don't worry about losing weight. It took 9 months to put it on, it can't disappear in 9 weeks!
Tomorrow is another day OP, don't worry. It goes by and you wonder where the time has gone. Mine are 14 and 11 now and that time has gone so quick. X

I've just eaten an iced doughnut (12g of fatShock) and my DC are in grammar school now, so I don't even have your excuse!

We all need a bit of comfort sometimes and with a new baby you deserve to treat yourself. If it makes you feel better have a longer walk tomorrow to work it off! (And be proud it was only Maltesers and not wineGrin)

Slip ups don't matter, recognising and reflecting on it as you are doing is the first step forward, make a plan for the next time and move forwards, you are doing well!

Unreasonable would have been not eating them. There is currently more chocolate on my house than in Thorntons, and the equivalent quantity to a warehouse has been consumed by me since Dbaby was born.

Hope tomorrow is a better day.

YADNBU

I'm currently pregnant. Today I feel more grumpy and depressed than I ever have in my life. I'm sure it's hormones but I've been stuffing myself with sweet things all afternoon which have now given me a headache. Oh and I just found out my dh has to go to an evening meeting that he had forgotten about.

Some days are terrible and definitely require chocolate medication!!

Yanbu and if you live anywhere in the north west I'll happily drop a box of malteasers off incase you need more!

I had a Greggs. My kids are in comp, you see Sad

Maltesers are about 90% air. Air is good for you. Consider it 'airing off' your stomach.

the only unreasonable bit is that you should be having a nap while ds sleeps instead of mn. Wink

You guys are the best, honestly - thank you so much (aplogies for being a bit gushy, clearly hormonal!)

I've just finished my big bag of malteasers, wouldn't have happened if my mum and sister hadn't come round earlier and eaten loads of them!

Dammit I want Maltesers now. :(

Whoa there, don't feel the need to be superwoman and walk the dog with baby just yet or go on any diets until you are ready!! And for me that wasn't until at least 6 months in when I could get more than 4 hours sleep. Then I relapsed.

Yanbu and I think you earned them in fact. You got up, dressed, got baby ready and took the dog out for a walk. More drive than I've got atm. And as someone else said malteasers are practically air. Tomorrow will be a better day!

Oh and I ate 12 Jaffa cakes today then immediately felt guilty as I'm 35 weeks pregnant and worrying about sugar intake Blush

Yabu, you should have a big bag of chocolate in that handle thing on your pram, with a spare bag in the nappy bag!
