Had tickets for a comedy night tonight, at which Stewart Lee was headlining. Proceeds from night go to support a local city farm. Win-win - it a lovely farm and we support it in lots of ways; and SL is one of my favourite comedians.

Get to the venue, and there is no mention of SL not showing. In fact, several of the lesser known comedians make jokes about the audience being there to see him etc.

Several of the acts are AWFUL, but we push on through waiting for the good stuff to start. And... then it's over. No SL. No mentioned at ANY FUCKING POINT that he isn't coming. And I checked, they were still name-checking him on Twitter, he was in the programme etc.

I ask one of the staff, who explains he has been hurt and couldn't come.

Now - these things happen. And I really hope he is ok, and not in too much pain and so on. Poor bloke.

BUT - there is NO WAY I would have sat through the painful tumbleweed "comedy" for TWO FREAKING HOURS had I known. (And they did know, because it turns out they got someone else in.) I would have either done something else on my VERY RARE FUCKING NIGHT OUT WITH MY HUSBAND or I would have gone home and SAVED A FUCKING FORTUNE IN BABYSITTING COSTS.

No-one would have had the gall to ask for a refund - it's a benefit after all. But I would have liked the choice. Not to mention it feels completely disrespectful.

I'm SO CHEESED OFF.

Christ no yanbu I am guessing it looks bad to ask for your money back at a charity do but they did not deliver the event you bought a place at.'

They won't have told the audience because they won't have wanted dozens or hundreds of people demanding their money back on the night of the actual show.
You could try and see if you can get the organisers to get you Stewart Lee tickets if he's scheduled to appear there again?

I used to love This Morning With Richard (not Judy). Although I'll confess that in my alcohol addled old age I get Stewart Lee, Ben Watt and Terry Christian all muddled into the one person.
