AIBU?

Big Brother question..

TFletchersWife · 10/06/2016 09:38

In the "Other house" there are contestants that are linked to housemates in the main house such as exes and friends who have gone NC.

But how did they get these people? Did they contact the exes of successful housemates to invite them on to the show? And if they did, surely they would have been told why they were invited?

And if they weren't invited, and the "other house" housemates simply auditioned for the show, how did they discover the link between the housemates?

It's all bloody staged.

So AIBU to be itching to to know WTF is going on?

I'm torn. I can't decide whether they'll have trawled online for potential housemates, chosen them and then either trawled the people they know so they genuinely didn't know they were going in. Or they'll all be in on it and god knows if the exes even are exes at all. I was convinced "the others" were definitely actors until I googled the "dominatrix/prostitute" and she seemed to have been one for real.

since the move to channel 5 very few of the HMs get their place by auditioning. I wouldn't be surprised if they even bother with auditions anymore. It's all totally fake and set up.
They don't do the psych tests on them anymore either

I remember the first Big Brother, it was amazing. They actually took it so seriously, it was a real 'human hamster cage' experience.

I don't watch it anymore, but did catch the whole bit about the opening night, it just seems like another of these god awful 'scripted reality' shows now. The z-est of z list celebs (most of whom look like they need rehab/a good shower), the 'shocks and suprises', all so very fake. I miss the days where a normal bloke hiding a phone was the worst thing that happened on the show.

I miss the normal people on bb.

When they had people of different ages and different backgrounds. That was a fab show back on the day.

The "Others" must surely be in on it. I dont know what the "audition" process is for BB now then, how do they find them?

That Ryan guy has been on so many reality shows. I can't stand him

I recognise that REALLY annoying Ryan guy from tv but can't think what programme?

Yes the early Big Brothers were great. I think I really enjoyed up until like BB6. Housemates started to realise how to game play and only went in to make a name for themselves.

I would love to watch the 1st and 2nd again

Yes the first big bro was great. It's getting ridiculous now because they are running out of ideas. And the fact they are putting already semi famous people in there is a joke. It is all going to kick off this year for sure they will end up scrapping it.

Ryan was in X Factor, turned up pissed to bootcamp!

I have been wondering this too. Rylan said on BOTS the other night that people have been asking the same question and he said something along the lines of believe me it was very discreet the way it was done, none of them have a clue.

Frankly, I think it's all bollocks. How would they not know???

Oh first one was definitely the best. I miss the days of normal people not fame hungry people.

I miss the first ones as well! It used to be a fascinating social experiment. Although my fav was bb7 (or 6?) with nikki and Pete and asisleyne and Glynn Mikey grace etc

Years ago they would have a mix of people - old and young. Now its just young! I watched on Wednesday night, but the swearing and posing was enough for me to realise its not aimed at my demographic at all! I also wondered how they managed to get so many people together that all knew each other - ex's etc. It is so fake.
I liked the first series back in 2000 ( I think) it was a real ' social experiment' and Craig who won seemed genuine. The business with Nasty Nick was funny too.

I'm glad to see this thread because I've been wondering exactly the same, OP.

It just doesn't make sense.

And that guy with the Playmobil hairstyle...

The blonde woman in the 'Others', said she only fell out with him the other week.

So how is she on the show and surprised to see him in the house? Confused

I wish they had just normal people in there...will still watch it, though Grin

Big brother is shit now. The earlier series were good but now it's awful! I think the show should have stayed ended when channel 4 ended it.

Yeah I think it's all fake and predictable and stale these days! I don't see how the main housemates can't know that people they are connected to are going to be in the house, especially when they keep randomly talking about them! Would they really bring their ex/ex friend up that much in conversation otherwise?

I do miss the old days of "normal" people on BB. I thought when it first went over to channel 5 it seemed to get quite fresh and rejuvenated but it's gone stale again now.

I loved big brother back in the early days.

This year I watched a few of the new people entering and after I heard "everybody fancies me" "I love a good fight" type comments for the 5th time and we were only on number 5, the t.v went off.

Desperados!!!!

It just seems now they are cherry picking the biggest loons/fame hungry wannabes around. Such a shame.

I assumed Chelsea was gayConfused

Was also shocked that Charlie is only 31!!!
I assumed she was in her 40's like the ex and desperate to stay young hence all the botox etcBlush

I loved the older series. The first lot seem so tame by comparison. Still remember Bubble falling over the chair.

I was surprised too and then realised that she probably lies about her age for her career. No way is she 31!

I'm hoping, as they're such a cliched bunch of obvious z list aggressive wannabes that that is the point. That they're somehow going to get their comeuppance. But I doubt it

They need to do a big brother - back to basics, they meddle and try to engineer conflict too much it's ruining it!
