AIBU?

To put up a sign saying use your own effing bin that also outlines the bin uplift schedule??

I live in a block of apartments (8 in my particular block). The bins are in an enclosed area that holds 2 different bins for each apartment - 1 green (general rubbish) and 1 blue (recylcling).

Tomorrow is green bin day. I've just taken out mine and my neighbours and I went to put more rubbish in mine but, as usual, it was full of someone else's rubbish Hmm All other green bins are full. Bin men don't take any bins over an inch open.

I went to put rubbish in my bin earlier in the week and there was 3 (!) other bin bags of rubbish in it. I took them out and dumped them on top of other bins, mine was then 1/3 full.

It's one thing if I still had room for my rubbish in mine or other bins but I don't! Only 2 other apartments take their bins out each week. There aren't enough bins for each apartment (there used to be, god knows what happened to them all). When my bin went missing I called the council and got a new one.

I'm pissed off having no room in my bins because other people don't put theirs out for collecting. I'm also pissed off taking other people's bins out so I have room in my bin. I'm also pissed off that I take rubbish out of my bin and dump it on the ground when I'm pissed off and then the sea gulls come and rip the bags to shreds and leave a mess Angry

Would IBU to leave a passive aggressive note at the door to tell people to PUT THEIR FUCKING BIN OUT?!?!

How about a cheery and barely-detectably-PA note telling people how to get a new bin, "so we don't all have to live with seagulls ripping up the excess bags."

Not that I've done this, written on the back of an envelope I'd had to fish out of my bin, revealing the address of the offending household ...

I've tried to find out the culprits so I could gleefully post each piece of rubbish through their letterbox while whistling a happy tune but I've found no incriminating evidence so far...

A bin lock you say....?

Oh and I've also been tempted to leave the council's number up along with what options to press to get a new bin Hmm

One of these should do the trick! (Eco-friendly too - saves you having to waste paper on note writing.) [winnk] Grin

I like it! And saves the note writing as you say.. had anyone else realised they can't write as well anymore now that typing and texting is more prevalent?!

Call the council and see if they can help - this happens a lot and it's why flat blocks generally have communal bins rather than bins for each flat (which the bin men then collect and put back). Worth a quick phone call!

We had this issue in a previous place...it used to really annoy our neighbour (who would fill our bin with all manner of shit because he recycled NOTHING) when we put his black bags on his doorstep, because they then didn't get picked up.

We didn't actually use a bin lock, we got a waterproof padlock from the pound shop. It did the trick...
