Can't they just go in their normal clothes and be -eg Harry on a Saturday when he's not royalling?

Or carry a crown? Or a toy dog?

Does he have favourite clothes that he'd like to wear, that could be worked into the theme?

Do you have Amazon Prime? They have a royal costume (that I may have panic bought yesterday).

Doesn't have to be a modern, European monarch, I suppose.

I suggest Biblical King David: striped wide sleeved tunic, teatowel headdress, sandals and a gold necklace of some sort. Could you cobble that together from stuff at home?

Henry VIII: orange cotton wool beard, tights under shorts, velvet cap, big coat/jacket stuffed with newspaper, and a bandage on left leg streaked with green and red to represent the suppurating leg ulcer?

More seriously, you only really need a red or purple cape, with cotton wool 'ermine' down the front if you can be bothered, fastened with a brooch. Cardboard crown and sword optional.

If he's not bothered, don't stress too much. Paper crown (that will be lost or squashed in seconds) will be fine

Your son is 3, has ASD, and doesn't like dressing up.

I'd not dress him up if he doesn't like it. It's all crazy anyway.

Get some fabric pens and draw suitable royal picture on plain white t shirt. Rest of clothes in red and or blue. I do drawing on t shirt for every dress up day.

Thankyou everybody for the wounder full ideas.
He gets his final diagnosis on Tuesday which is taking most of my head space at the moment.
He really has no idea what is going on around him at all even on a normal day, so he won't even realise if everyone is dressed ill never mind himself.
He hates keeping costumes on so think I'll just try throwing something together because I spend a fortune on costumes with 2 dc in school.
I've got a word and shield or a army gun so might go along the lines of army
Thankyou all so much again

You could be a Greek or German princess- as they don't have them anymore you would not need to dress up!
