About huns?

I'm fully prepared to be told that I am VU/a snob/a fucking cunting bastard etc.

Fully prepared.

But more and more and more since the recent DM shite I've noticed 'hun'ing creeping into over half the threads I click on.

It makes my teeth itch. I always want to say something but I don't want to be that arsehole.

I don't know why it annoys me. I'm not a snob so it's not that. It's just so bloody twee.

I've heard people say this every so often but I've not seen any hunning.

U ok hun? Wink

I have no idea why anyone would want to call a stranger on the internet 'hun'. YANBU.

RusholmeRuffian · 07/06/2016 20:01

YANBU at all.

It's okay Babes. Them Huns won't hurt you.

YADNBU!

I haven't noticed it that much but I have noticed it a little bit and definitely since the whole DM crap. It's fucking annoying tbh.

They do it a lot on the Facebook selling sites too. On the rare occasion I sell on there, I always want to say "I will not sell to you because I am not your sodding hun!" But I grit my teeth (that are also itching over it). So no flaming here!

I have been on here a lot today as I have been unwell and not up to much else. The hunning has been very apparent

Jimjamjoos · 07/06/2016 20:07

What exactly is a hun? I've never understood.

Report
memyselfandaye · 07/06/2016 20:07

I don't like it either, however I think an X at the end of a post is worse.

Jim as in short for honey. The term of endearment which apparently is ok to call strangers. Hmm

Op YADNBU

I've really noticed it too and trust me on this - I have to sit on my hands and spend five minutes with my eyes closing humming a calming mantra. It is such a shit word that doesn't even mean what the 'hunner' thinks it means and worst of all - WORST OF ALL - complete strangers seem to think they can address you in this way.Angry

Nothing about it is ok.

Yanbu! I've noticed this too! Envy

Can't say I've noticed it too much on MN (however, I'm not on here all the time) but it does get on my nerves on other sites, like our local community and selling sites. Lots of Huns, Babes - makes me run away screaming. And on F/Ache - the 'Feeling Blessed' and 'Hubby' (and a new one, Hubbo). Gaaaaahhhhh! I've only just recently joined Facebook to go onto the local community selling site and find old friends from years ago - it is useful for that, but those words and phrases are really already getting on my nerves, more than you could imagine. Not sure how long I can endure it. Angry Bird

The Hun is how my DH refers to Germans.

WellErrr · 07/06/2016 20:10

Yes, 'hubbys' and xxxxxxxxx also abound.

👏👏💫💫⭐️🌟12 minutes 37 seconds since I last saw a hun🌟⭐️💫💫👏👏

It just softens a sentence, makes it sound a little less harsh.

It's a word, what's the problem?

Report
WellErrr · 07/06/2016 20:11

At least I've only seen one 'hubster' lately.

Thought I was going to get a right flaming for this.

I think it became hun because hon might be pronounced "honn". I hate it though. But not as much as I hate "hunnie" or "hunny". Yuck.

Or referring to children as "little man"

My issue entirely. People are absolutely at liberty to call their children whatever term of endearment they choose but I am not a fan

There's been running, and loling and hubbying and babbing.

Cease and desist!
