My partner left when my DD was 10 months old. Since then he has seen her once or twice a week for a couple of hours. But he is also away a lot so some weeks he doesn't see her at all, and he is often away up to a month at a time.

She is 13 months old now and he wants to have her overnight twice a week. He's hired a really pushy lawyer to send me quite aggressive letters too.

I want him to come round and see her as much as he can so they form a proper attachment but I think with his absences and her age, it will be too inconsistent and bewildering for her to stay overnight.

She's also going through a clingy phase. I'm awake right now because she woke up and then every time I settled her and tried to leave the room she went hysterical. She's asleep now but don't know how she would cope at his.

AIBU?

I think its fine but he should probably build up to it over a fee weeks. That doesnt have to be at your house btw. Is that the only place he sees her? He needs to be having her on his own at his own place and doing the parenting.
