AIBU?

DP won't insure me on his new car

A car he has lusted after for years. Bought with his bonus/dividends so fair enough it's 'his' money in the loosest sense of the word.

Was talking about his insurance and I said oh I can't wait to drive it. It then comes out that I'm not on the insurance Hmm. I asked why and he said oh well it would've cost too much (fuck off given the price of the car). He then admitted that he didn't want me driving the carAngry

I've never had one accident. I've got three points of speeding and that it. In ten years of driving.

AIBU to think he's a sexist pig and I'm supposed to go ok you drive me around when you feel like it then? (Obviously I have a car myself just a bog standard boring family car)

My DP has an old sports car as his daily-he tells me that because it's a specialist policy they won't insure me Hmm. Pretty sure he just doesn't want me driving his prize posession.

What car?

I love my car so I don't let my friends drive it (it seems quite common around here to add close friends to your insurance sometimes) but DP is insured. I trust him with my car.

What Owl said. Tell everyone how excited you are that he can be the designated driver whenever you go out.

What car is it?

Mummyme1987 · 02/06/2016 22:18

It's not his car, it's bought with money from the family so it's a family car. Insure it yourself!

I would be really, really really annoyed at that.

Wouldn't bother me. I hate Dh driving my car as his is an automatic and he seems to be crap at gears. I hate automatics so I'm not on his.

I couldn't care less, but my dh insures me on his cars which I have absolutely no intention of driving.
I like driving my car.

How long have you been together?
Do you live together?
Do you have any children?

Can't believe he's still sat here showing me photos of his new car.

I'm gonna let the kids eat in it

OP - Do you have a driveway that is on a slope at all?

MyDPisasexistpig · 02/06/2016 22:24

Over 5 years, yes we live together, yes DC together.

His dividends are dependent on how well his company does end of tax year. So not included in family money really. He does work very hard at a manually hard job so I don't begrudge him buying a toy for himself.

He is being a knob but not sure why it's sexist unless he told you you couldn't drive it due to you being female.

You have a car so are not dependant on him to get around.

Go and buy yourself a 911. And then don't insure him in it!!!
