Ok so ill probably get burned for this but anyway...here goes...

Picnic with DP and DS at a local nature reserve, which is popular with families and dog walkers etc. Please note that there are signs everywhere saying that dogs should be on leads.

We're all enjoying our food on the grass in the sunshine and all of a sudden a massive, smelly, soaking wet dog lumbers over and proceeds to lick me and my DS and trample over the picnic. Said dog's owner scurries over, laughing and seeing that we had aghast looks on our faces said "oh dont worry...he's really friendly!" to which i replied "I couldn't care less if he was bloody lassie...get him on a lead!" Dog owner then throws me a filthy look, tuts, and leads soggy dog away saying "come on darling, clearly not everyone here likes dogs"

Now, im not anti-dog by any stretch, but AIBU to think that this is bang out of order and 'dog folk' should realise that not everyone loves their hairy beasts, especially when they are dripping pond water over their scotch eggs?!! Wink

This isn't the first time i have experienced this type of arrogance either. Like people letting their dogs sniff about at my DS when he was tiny in his pram...or letting them jump up when going to their houses.

Opinions please? Smile xxx

If your picnic really was trampled on and dripped over then YA certainly NOT BU.

However YAB completely unreasonable to start yet another dog bashing thread, and yet another one which I suspect is exaggerated somewhat...

You get arses everywhere OP, cyclists, dog owners, drivers. Its about the person not the animal or contraption.

I'm a dog person and wouldnt do this, the same as a lot of responsible dog owners wouldn't so on the title YABU

That's why you'll get 'burned'.

"come on darling, clearly not everyone here likes dogs"

Yeah ^^ really though?

I'm not sure why you need opinions. Surely it's embarrassingly obvious that no-one should allow their dog to trample over someone's picnic, and no-one here is going to say that actually dogs should be allowed to do that??

Absolutely love this purely for the use of 'contraption' Grin

YANBU but will probably get told that dogs are like children, would you say the same about a child blah blah blah.

I wish 'dog people' would realise that, whilst they may be their 'fur baby' boak, to other people me they can make them very nervous, and being licked by anything is revolting.

If dogs jump up at me now I hold my hands up in the air (to head level) palms facing forward, someone taught me this to get them down and works a treat. And I always tell the owner that I do it as dogs make me very nervous. 95% of people respond reasonably and take the dog away, and the other 5% are mortally offended that you haven't "coochy-cooed" their dog to death Hmm

We're not stupid, thanks. And most of us can read signs too. You get entitled arseholes in all walks of life, dog-owners and non-dog-owners.

I always let my slobbery dog clamber over everyone off the lead whilst I laugh. Non dog folk shouldn't be getting in his way with their scotch eggs.

You know YANBU but why aim this at all "doggy people"?
You might as well have posted "A drunk bloke slapped my 4 year old across the face with a haddock. Was IBU to have thrown him a dirty look and asked him to stop?" if you fancied starting a bunfight. And bunged in a title about "being cross with blokes".

And the Lassie thing wasn't very funny so I wouldn't try using humour as it doesn't suit you.

To be cross with 'parents'

A child decided to dive head first into our picnic and ate all the sausage rolls

Therefore all parents are the same and I am cross with them all AIBU

Is that right pinky?

I won't have my legs discussed this way.

I'll crack open the Bic razors when I'm good and ready thank you very much.

I didn't mean it to sound like i was painting all dog owners to be this way...its just the experiences I've had. Maybe ive just been unlucky. Apologies for offending anyone.

Not bashing the dog at all. Just the owner. And believe me i am not exaggerating.

Im asking for opinions because the reaction i have had from some people i know has been that i should chill out about it. I just wondered if this was the general consensus.
