AIBU?

AIBU to want replacement sunglasses?

I had a very nice pair of sunglasses I bought from jigsaw about 10 years ago costing me £60.

My husband wore (without telling me, also he has a massive head - extra large hat size) and he then let his friend borrow (without telling me) for a fancy dress night as Starsky.

The legs are now bent too wide for my head and the lenses are scratched.

I rarely wear sunglasses (a few times per year) but when I do I wear these ones as they were expensive and I had kept them nice. I often wear them to keep my hair back as they nicely set off a well chosen outfit.

My husband says I don't need another pair and should get a cheap crap pair to replace them.

I feel I should be able to buy like-for-like to replace them - AIBU?

Thoughts please...

YANBU, he borrowed, he broke (well, rendered them unwearable for you), he replaces like for like.

He should've bought himself a cheap crap pair.

He shouldn't have borrowed them and gone and bought himself cheap crap ones.

Is he usually this unreasonable? Of course he has to replace them.

From your description, he is acting like an entitled cock.

He should replace them, he didn't ask to borrow them and could have got a pair from Primark/Poundland etc.

He should replace them because he took them without asking and ruined them. If he needs glasses for his big head or to lend a friend, they do them in Primark for a quid.
Anyone with any manners would replace them and not be a dick about it.

Of course he should replace them. Ask him how he'd feel if you broke down thing he had kept nice for so long with thoughtlessness.

As an aside this honestly is why I can't be bothered to be in a relationship anymore. In sure there's men out there that don't do this but my last boyfriend smoked in my non smoking car and burnt the roof, lost three work Sat navs that I had to replace and I'm still unpacking stuff and finding he had borrowed bits of my things and not put them back. It's rude selfish and entitles and makes me Angry

Yanbu!
I'm really laid back and easy going about people borrowing any of my stuff, happily lend people expensive things (always get it back) but would never ever let anyone wear any of my sunglasses! I wear them pretty much every day, all year round, have quite a collection now, and even the DC know not to touch my sunglasses!

Of course he should replace them. He knows he has a larger head than you, he must have felt them strain as he put them on, and who on earth thinks it's OK to lend out stuff that's not yours?

You say you rarely wear sunglasses, so I presume they were safely tucked into a drawer rather than sitting in the glove-box of your car? How much effort did it take him to find your glasses and ruin wear them rather than his own? If he doesn't have his own, why not, and why does that mean he can help himself to yours, knowing they would be too small?
