To start a parking war?

I live in street with no off road parking. Most people park considerately and we can usually park close to our homes. On the odd occasion, it might be a bit of a trek but it's rare.

Next door neighbour - who will henceforth be known as wankbadger is possessive over the piece of road by his front path. He has a leg injury which makes walking difficult and I am empathetic, given that I have a progressive condition that severely restricts my mobility. I appreciate he would prefer to park as close to his house as possible. I would too but recognise that I have no right to the road and suck it up. Our council are quite good at allocating disabled spaces but I've not been here long and we might be moving on soon, so I've managed. He's become twattier, knocking on people's doors and asking them to move. My other neighbours are gossips! I have avoided this confrontation by managing to not park in front of his house.

Today, the street was unusually busy, so I parked in the nearest space which happened to be outside wankbadger's house. He phoned earlier this evening and while he wasn't rude as such, I was surprised as he's never phoned before. He wanted to tell me all about his disability and how it affects him. After politely mmmming and offering sympathy, I advised that I would endeavour not to do park there in future. I mentioned that I also struggle to walk. He knows this; I walk with 2 crutches or use a wheelchair. Apparently, he is sorry but he "just cannot walk as far as you (me)". He has seen me walking further down the street apparently. Hmm

WIBU to park in wankbadger's "personal" space just because he was a dick? Can I twat him over the head with my crutch? Shall I send my dog out to bark at 5 am? I won't really, I hate confrontation but I will give him evil side eye.

Crutch wars seems perfectly reasonable, but a barking dog would annoy all your neighbours. Collateral damage is never good.

I'm so glad I have a driveway and live on a main road where nobody dares park Grin I would also hate confrontation! I'd probably just continue to do my best to avoid his space but if you need to park you need to park. You sound like you are doing your best to be considerate.

Go and tell him what you know about the disabled spaces and he could well be entitled to one!

Then you can park in front of your own house or wherever if you can, if you cannot be bothered to apply.

OR take the really common sense approach and apply for your own space!!
