Hoping to complete on my first house on Friday!
If I complete on Friday, when will my first mortgage payment be due?
When will I start paying all the council tax/water/electric etc?
I'm assuming the following month but would just like to doubly check!
TIA

Didnt you agree a mortgage payment date with the bank/mortgage company? Check your paperwork. M
Not sure about all the rest, you'll have to contact them all to have your name put onto the accounts and they should be able to let you know when your first bill will be.

It was 10 weeks ago we did our mortgage application... I can't remember what they said. I know which date it comes out of via DD, but not sure when that's going to start if that makes sense?!

I completed about 3 months ago. The first mortgage payment was about 7 weeks after completion but was a very high instalment to reflect that. All the other bills are on Direct Debit and came out on 1st of month.

When I moved in I took meter readings the day I got the keys and contacted my utility supplier of choice (was a new build so no previous account) and they set up a new account using my readings. They wanted to set up a presumptive DD charge but I decided to have my first bill as quarterly so waited till that arrived but put money away each month to cover it. Also meant I had an idea of usage so could set a realistic monthly DD when I did set that up!!

Despite asking our mortgage advisor she couldnt tell us when our first payment was due and how much although we knew it be higher than our set amount. Anyway it was about 2-3 weeks later and abit higher than the set amount which we knew. The council tax started day we moved in. Water bill was sent a week later for a small amount. Nothing from electricity yet apart from changing the names on the bills. Be here 2 months now. I suspect bills like council, water and electricity send bills as they would have. Good luck in your new home and well done for escaping the rent trap xxx

It won't be moving day. It'll be around 6-8 weeks after and it will be a larger sum than your normal mortgage payments and more than you think it'll be. (Was about £880 for our £570 mortgage).

You'll get a Council tax bill almost as soon as you register the address. As it is early in the year you may still be able to pay monthly rather than a lump sum. Call the current suppliers with your opening meter readings and ask what tariff and payment plan the address is on. Mortgage depends when the regular payment will be taken, you may have 4 weeks or you may have 7 before. Solicitor will take care of anything due immediately.

Ours is the month after completion so it will be like a double payment.
