To send this in for show and tell?

Dd is 2.2 and has recently started preschool. They do show and tell once a week. I bought this crab the other day. We prepared it and ate it together.

I think that the shell would be an interesting show and tell. Dd is fascinated by it.

Dh thinks I'll forever be known as the weird parent who sent a crab in. Thoughts?

Incidentally, he came out beautifully from the dishwasher Grin

My daughter takes in crab & other shells plus fossils etc Once her friend took in a sheep skull! Kids love it, send it in x

BillSykesDog · 30/04/2016 20:48

I think that's really cool!

1hamwich4 · 30/04/2016 20:49

I've sent bird and mouse skulls for DD's show and tell. And a bird's nest. Can't see what's wrong with anything they find interesting really- the clue is in the name.

SitsOnFence · 30/04/2016 20:49

Kids love dead stuff. Do it!

Mine are 6 and 7 now and at some point I, and all the other parents it would seem, stopped bothering to moderate show and tell offerings, so all sorts of random crap stuff gets taken in.

FasterThanASnakeAndAMongoose · 30/04/2016 20:49

Excellent! I'll do it. Reckon I should write her name inside his shell with a sharpie? Grin

Send it! My preschoolers love to see things like this, hear about where they can from and how the bringer got it. Plus it makes such a change from the same old toys.

DS1 took a wasps nest DH found in the woods at the back of our house...they put it in the library..

crazywriter · 30/04/2016 20:56

I sent DS in with a very large snake skin once. The kids loved it!

sizeofalentil · 30/04/2016 21:05

Could be worse - a friend of mine brought in her mum's dildo. Without her mum's consent/knowledge - obviously.

A crab shell is pretty cool - not like you're bringing in a dead badger or anything.

FasterThanASnakeAndAMongoose · 30/04/2016 21:06

Thank you! I'm convinced. I'll let you know how she gets on Smile

I'm a Primary teacher - i'd love this. A child brought in a lime the other day (!) and it was great - we talked about colour, texture, smell, taste. And we all tried a bit of lime juice squirted into our cups of water.

FasterThanASnakeAndAMongoose · 30/04/2016 21:14

One of my year 6s once brought in her dead pet tarantula. It was mounted on a small wooden plinth in a perspex box. This wasn't show and tell - she just thought I'd be interested. I was, but I wasn't expecting to find him on my desk when I came back from taking them to assembly. Fell off my chair a little bit Grin

Of course take it in. That's exactly the sort of stuff you're supposed to take it in.
