I was just scrolling through my newsfeed earlier and saw a friend had commented on an anti-abortion page's photo - it's a very graphic photo of a fetus which looks to have been miscarried/stillborn a few months in. The page has used it with a 'dear mommy...' caption which goes on to basically guilt trip about abortion.

I realise there's no law against being pro-life, and pro-lifers regularly picket outside abortion clinics etc, but I found the image very upsetting so I reported it. Facebook has got back to me and said they can't see anything wrong with the photo, that it doesn't breach any guidelines and they won't remove it.

AIBU to think it's wrong of FB to allow it to stand?

On a side note I have no issue with people who choose to share photos of their babies who were stillborn, I think it is entirely up to them but I think a photo like this used in this way for propaganda is so vile and disrespectful.

I wonder if it's the one that is not actually a real foetus but is a model one. I have seen something along those lines before anyway

It is vile.
If a parent who has lost a baby chooses to share a photo then that is their own choice, it's their child.

This group won't have a clue who's baby this is, whether the parents are ok with the image being shared etc.

It's not something you want to see really is it. Lots of people could be rightly sensitive to images like that.

Demented I'm not certain, but by the looks of it it is real (I'm no expert but I have lost a baby). I won't link to it but it is very graphic and shocking and I just think the context it is being used in is revolting.

Whilst it's not great viewing, millions of photos can be found on google that can be used freely with no issues over use so the owner of the picture, presumably the parent could have absolutely no quarrels over its use.

I do however find it astounding that a nipple is seen as offensive or against community standards but abortion photos, beheadings etc that can look truly horrific and emotion provoking are ok

I've seen a few prolife images like that (and reported them too, got the same response from fbook.... Interestingly they also thought: picture of a dead child and a fat-and-benefit-shaming picture that I reported didn't contravene their standards either?!)
But anyway the ones Ive seen were clearly fakes/models..... I used to work in Gynae. Without going into detail, I know they were fake.

Undermines the prolife argument if you ask me! Always makes me think that these people have never had an real world experience of what they're actually talking about and just going off sensationalism/inaccurate scaremongering websites etc.

Agree, it's vile and massively insensitive.

Interesting that a lot of pro lifers tend to be quite right wing/republican and also pro guns and the death penalty....?

What is and isn't acceptable on Facebook is mind boggling, I know an artist who put up a stunning life drawing she had done and had it removed for 'nudity' (it was a drawing of nipples ffs!)
Yet this is deemed fine. I don't get it.

I reported what I suspect and hope was a faked photo of 2 young girls around 5 max hanging from a noose earlier and Facebook told me it doesn't violate guidelines.

I actually hope it is a fake (though I don't understand why someone would make a model of that?) However either way, it looks real and it's horrible.
I am pro choice and while I don't respect 'pro lifers' views I know I can't make everyone think like me and groups like this exist. I don't think it's right that people should have to see this stuff on their newsfeed though when they don't follow those groups, I know you can hide/block but you don't know when someone will like or comment on a post which brings it to your newsfeed.

It sounds like FB really need to sort out their stance on what is inappropriate and what is not, if they have such a problem with nipples but no issue with murder/abuse/photos of dead babies. I know which one I am upset more by.
