AIBU?

aibu about Wiz Khalifa smoking weed?

On facebook and instagram he posts pictures of him smoking weed regularly. He will post a picture of him doing something with his son, then 10minutes later a picture of him with a joint.

I know it's legal where he is. I don't have a problem with cannabis, and I know it could be compared with him drinking alcohol. But I still find it odd. I've never seen mentioned anywhere, or even negative comments on the pics. I don't think it'd go unmentioned if Amber was smoking weed. Or any other celeb. Aibu? Is it totally fine because it's legal there?

I don't understand what your post is about? Are you saying the coverage is sexist? Or that it plays into racial stereotypes? (It's probably both).

I dont know who amber is, but i remember a whole whoo-ha when rihanna was picture holding a joint a few years ago. I have no problem with weed personally although i think its not safe for everyone.

It's not legal where he is, i'm sure he lives in LA

I have no problem with weed either. Just wondered why it's acceptable for him to do whilst parenting, yet any other parent would be flamed. Celeb or not. Amber is the childs mother. That was the point of this thread. Yes remember Rihanna was made a huge deal of. As was one direction.

And even if you are having a quick spliff hidden from the kids, why keep posting on it social media? The mind boggles.

Your post makes even less sense to me now! Initially you said you think it's comparable to drinking alcohol, and you have no problem with it. Now you say it's wrong for him to do it while parenting. (Presumably, since one doesn't ever stop being a parent until the kid is 18, that's, like, forever?)

So do you condemn pictures of people parenting (e.g. at a summer picnic, a wedding) with a glass of wine? I go to the pub regularly with friends and their kids - is that wrong in your eyes?

Not having a go at you, just trying to understand where you see the issue...

That's all I've got.

He most likely has someone who posts on his social media for him, and I highly doubt the pictures are chronological. A good publicist will have a plan for their release.

How do you know he was smoking whilst parenting?

Mind you, a regular smoker will generally be far less affected by it than an occasional smoker.

The difference I suppose, between having a glass of wine and being perfectly capable of parenting your kids, and having a whole bottle - rendering you unable.

Unless you're saying he was smoking in front of his child? I'm a bit confused, so sorry if I sound dim Blush

I see where you're coming from OP

I would never drink when I'm looking after my kids as it doesn't take much at all for me to get tipsy.

I sure as hell wouldn't get high around my kids either, especially one as young as his. Many people disagree with it being illegal, but the fact is it IS illegal and you would just be showing your kids it's okay to break the law.

WorraLiberty - Within the space of an hour he posted a picture of his son getting ready and a picture of him smoking.

Separate pics as in not smoking in front of the child?

If so, I can't get fussed about it on the basis a regular smoker doesn't tend to get high as such from smoking a joint, and also no-one knows how strong it was.

So possibly very similar to having one glass of wine/beer.

Having said that, it's not something I would do but everyone's different.

That depends in which American state the photo was taken.

When I said "Bold:Many people disagree with it being illegal, but the fact is it IS illegal and you would just be showing your kids it's okay to break the law." I meant in general, not his specific state.

I think everyone knows Wiz Khalifa doesn't smoke your average stuff, he also smokes joints like another would smoke cigarettes, he confessed in an interview to spending over 20k a month on it.

Yes, separate pictures. This also doesn't mean that he didn't do it in front of his child.

shove I don't have a problem with people drinking around children, no. Or parents smoking cannabis away from dc. The aibu was more why has it never been mentioned. As someone up thread said, Rihanna caused huge controversy posting a picture of her smoking it. A couple of adult teens (1D) smoking it was also a huge deal. Parent posts pics of him smoking it all the time, never mentioned.

Worra- assume it's while he's parenting as he isn't with the mum, the pictures are pretty much daily and often straight after pictures of his ds. I know he won't be out of it as he's a regular smoker. I don't think he's incapable of looking after his son.

I'm not sure how it impacts you. But one joint isn't going to get him high. Same as one glass of wine may not get some people drunk.

I don't get your gripe I'm afraid,

It's not sexist as 1D got criticised
It's not racist as Rihanna got criticised

Your only gripe seems to be that the mum MAY get criticised if she were to smoke without any evidence it seems.

And the reason I feel many may not say anything about it, is hey probably did when it first happened but if you see it everyday for presumably a long time most won't bother saying anything, especially if they see it as minor, which as its becoming more accepted and legal in the US most probably will

If he's smoking in front of his kids, then what about passive cannabis smoking? You can get high from being in a room with people smoking cannabis. This could happen even if Wiz only has one joint. A parent having one glass of wine doesn't cause passive alcohol drinking.

I have no idea who these people are but assuming you have never met them/don't know them, what the hell business is it of yours? Worry about your own life.
