To have done absolutely fuck all today?

I was meant to be going shopping with a friend but she forgot all about it. Me and ds2 were all dressed and ready waiting for her and when she didn't turn up I went into a bit of a paranoid spin.

All I've been capable of for the rest of the day is laying on the sofa MNing and drinking coffee, with the occasional doze. There's washing to be done, the kitchen needs a blitz and ds2 has spent the day watching YouTube. I'm cooking a beige dinner tonight of fish fingers, chicken dippers and oven chips and counting down the hours until I can reasonably go to bed.

Dh has come home from work, covered me with a blanket and made me a coffee.

I've totally wasted the day and ds2 is climbing the walls. I'm useless and don't deserve my family.

Just like before kids, sometimes you just need a lazing about day. I am sitting here looking around my lounge area which is covered in toys, there's washing to be folded and dishes to go away. Oh well, it can all be done later.

We are all allowed a day off. Don't feel guilty. Lovely of dh to come home and do that, how kind. Be kind to yourself, tomorrow's another day.

Write it off and start afresh tomorrow. Can your dh wear your little one out, take him for a walk or something? Even chase him round the garden if you have one? Then at least you know he'll sleep tonight and you can get an earlier night. Perhaps you are coming down with something? I usually get like this before a cold starts.

NO DAY SPENT LOOKING AFTER CHILDREN IS A DAY DOING NOTHING

If they aren't shut in their soundproofed bedroom with no food, water or toilet you have loomed after them all day and deserve a medal.

Some days are more rewarding than others, but all days we are parenting or providing for our family are good hard working days.

I've been reading, watching films on the telly and MNing. ALL DAY.

I got DP to make my lunch and he brought it up to me. He's been out shopping, tidying and is about to make dinner for my children.

I have also had a similar day, except I didn't get out of my pyjamas until 1 , and a mum at the school told me she had done the same.

I am deliberately ignoring the dc to mnet. They are happy, eating pasta and watching paw patrol. They are not in desperate need for a bath so in an hour will be in bed and I'm going to have a whisky (I don't even like Whisky), and do fuck all like I've done all day. Do I feel guilty? Well a bit, but I'm not beating myself up. I'm feeling flat and meh and unmotivated, so normal service will have to return tomorrow.

Ah thank you. You have made me feel a bit better about the day. Tomorrow will be different. Beige dinner was delicious and everyone ate everything, which is more than I can say about my home cooked efforts.

Your DH sounds like a real sweety! Everyone is entitled to a rubbish day every now and then, if everyone got through it alive then you haven't failed. My DH calls it an "Iceland buffet" when we have a beige dinner Hope you have a better day tomorrow

If it's confession time then it's the last day of school hols and I took the kids to get the car cleaned and let the toddler sleep for 2.5 hours because I wanted to MN on the sofa, eating junk.

I don't even have the good grace to feel ashamed.
