Minor but aibu?

At cinema the other day. There's this huge cut out style poster for the BFG. The little girl in the film is a cut out too with her skirts rising up behind her.

Ds2 aged 6 thought it funny to put his hand 'up' her skirt. H thought this hilarious and took photos.

I thought it seriously unfunny and said so and well, what a pc bore I am. Small spat ensued. Nice.

I would have thought you were a bit grumpy. It's only a cardboard cutout most people would know you wouldn't do the same to a real girl

winkywinkola Wed 06-Apr-16 09:48:35

Woulda six year old know? How?

BeverlyGoldberg Wed 06-Apr-16 09:49:32

I'm a bore like you then as I wouldn't have found this funny either.

ShyCharles Wed 06-Apr-16 09:49:40

I wouldn't have found it funny either.

Ughnotagain Wed 06-Apr-16 09:51:29

YANBU. If you are a grump then so am I. That shit falls under the same umbrella as hair pulling, pushing in the playground, "he's mean because he likes you". It's bullshit.

Misswrite89 Wed 06-Apr-16 09:52:36

I wouldn't have found it funny at all.

Bajanella Wed 06-Apr-16 09:53:28

I wouldn't be bothered about a 6 year old being silly. I would be very pissed off if H encouraged it by taking photos. I'd have had a spat with H too.

leelu66 Wed 06-Apr-16 09:55:48

YANBU. Your DH should not have encouraged it.

sonlypuppyfat Wed 06-Apr-16 09:57:24

It must be just me then, I can't get worked up by offending a bit of cardboard

wonkylampshade Wed 06-Apr-16 09:58:57

It's not just a bit of fun though, is it? He's learning about how boys treat girls and men treat women. His dad shouldn't have encouraged this.

winkywinkola Wed 06-Apr-16 10:01:20

I said it was a dick thing to do.

AStreetcarNamedBob Wed 06-Apr-16 10:02:24

Not funny. YANBU

InternalMonologue Wed 06-Apr-16 10:02:52

I'd be more bothered about the husband encouraging it rather than the 6 year old being daft.

Floggingmolly Wed 06-Apr-16 10:04:09

Taking photos is bloody weird.

Buzzardbird Wed 06-Apr-16 10:06:02

It wasn't funny.

cuntycowfacemonkey Wed 06-Apr-16 10:06:26

I would be pissed off too it's like someone said it's teaching him how men treat women. Taking photos is just knobbish

liquidrevolution Wed 06-Apr-16 10:07:00

not funny. At 6 a child will translate this as being acceptable.

Your DH is a dick.

DramaAlpaca Wed 06-Apr-16 10:08:35

I agree OP, it's not funny.

A six year old is just messing about and I wouldn't think too much of it. I would've told him not to do it & explained to him that it was inappropriate.

However, I'd have been very pissed off if my DH had encouraged it and would've told him so in no uncertain terms.

80schild Wed 06-Apr-16 10:09:04

It would encourage disrespectful attitude so definitely not funny.

shovetheholly Wed 06-Apr-16 10:09:52

YANBU! I know he's 6 and has no clue what he's doing, but that kind of encouragement and boys-will-be-boys attitude is not something to encourage

Lumpylumperson Wed 06-Apr-16 10:10:43

Yep. Disrespectful.

Would he take a photo of his son pretending to stick his hands down a boys trousers? No?

Then why is it acceptable purely because it's a female?

PPie10 Wed 06-Apr-16 10:13:10

Yanbu I can't believe your Dh found it funny to do that. If I saw a dad and son doing that I would have been disgusted at both and given them a dirty look.

FirstWeTakeManhattan Wed 06-Apr-16 10:16:22

YANBU. Not at all funny.

I thought this was going to be about Michael Mcintyre (or Harry Hill)
