AIBU?

To think that these vendors are utter twunts?

I don't think IABU but wanted to vent and ask advice.

Completed on our new house yesterday. Was in London for work so went there today to find that before moving out the vendors have dragged all their old mattresses into the garden (along with some - now smashed - glass items) and set fire to them. I would post pics but I am not clever enough...

I started cleaning up all the other shit they left behind and realized that there was an entire fireplace missing. It's a funky modern ish gas fire thing and I clearly remember it and liked it. Despite ticking the "leaving gas fire" box on the SPIF form they have removed it and replastered the fucking wall. Have just gone back through the estate agents info and the SPIF from the solicitor and there was no mention of them taking it.

I was willing to overlook the massive turd upstairs in the bathroom as an aberration, but I really think they didn't like us! Grin

Anyway I have photographed everything and emailed the solicitor and I know I have legal redress, but AIBU to feel aggrieved that I have to share a planet with these utter cunts? I mean seriously, who does this? I know it's a first world problem and I am lucky to have a house and legs etc, but c'mon - it's really very twattish, no?

That is horrible. I hope you get lovely new neighbours to sort the karma out. Here are some Flowers to brighten the place up a bit.

They are scumbags, utter scumbags!

Document everything but don't hold out major hope i'm afraid.

Wtf?

They took the fire and left you a turd?

That's not really compensation for the fire is it? Grin

Please tell you didn't take a photo of the poo!Shock

Had they turned the water off? Maybe?

They are proper cunts. What could you have possibly done that made them this pissed off.

And yes I would definitely pursue this.

Commiserations - what a horrible experience and as if moving house isn't stressful enough. But as for litigation, I'd forget it - the sort of people you're talking about won't be easily brought to book.

I would contact your solicitors now. I know some body in a similar situation, the vendor removed all the light fittings. The vendor's own solicitors refused to pass on the proceeds of the sale until the vendors had arranged and paid for a qualified electrician to return all the light fittings.

They seemed so lovely! I bought them wine and now I feel like a massive twat!

I spent a good 10 minutes staring at the wall thinking it didn't quite look right before I realized the entire fireplace was missing....

Yes - they left me a turd AND took all the loo roll. The utter, utter bastards....

What bastards. Our vendors took the plumbing for the washing machine plus the loo roll and I cursed them.

I'd probably have burst a blood vessel if they'd ripped out a fireplace!

curren my DH got very aerated and said "photograph everything - including the turd" but I flushed and toilet ducked instead. He is very cross.

Have emailed the solicitor like a grown up and cried down the phone to the estate agent like a 2 year old so I think they cancel each other out

I'd be worried about how safely the fire had been removed. Sad

Many commiserations. ThanksBrewWine

In spite of the legal documentation confirming that our vendors would not be removing plants form the garden, when we moved in there were more craters around than the moon hope they all died in transit

Yes, I'd be wanting the gas inspected unless there's proper evidence it was done safely.

Shock our vendors also took a huge iron fireplace and left us a turd!! Or, more accurately, lots of little pieces of poo. Maybe it's the correct house selling etiquette?

No mattresses here but there are some seriously dodgy DIY jobs all over.

Yeah that's really cuntish. And a bit think - since it says on the property form they are leaving it they will have to return it and pay for it to be installed and made good. Your solicitor needs to go hard ball.

Maybe I should mention the 15 foot pink Christmas tree in the lounge too? (It seems a bit churlish but otoh I can't even lift it to get it in a fecking skip.... )

I can't understand why people would be like this..??

God I'd have professional cleaners in and get house immaculate for new owners as that's how I'd expect to receive a home I've just purchased.

Hope you get some form of compensation OP

I know salene - I must be a complete mug because all my places have been cleaner on moving day than they ever were when I lived there!

I think this is one of things that everyone agrees is twattish but still happens depressingly often - like middle lane hogging and parking in disabled spots. Grrr.

What they did was awful, truly awful.

But I did laugh at this. Blush

They must have ticked the box to say they would leave house clean? Should have photo the shit. Might have been able to get some cash out of them for cleaning.

When we bought our first house. They left us.....their cat. Apparently it wouldn't be happy in the new house. So they left it.

Dh is very allergic and they wouldn't come for it. Thankfully, mums friend took it.

They also left a used condom in the bathroom Angry

Stuff like this seems quite common

Get DH to do a poo and photograph that. Let them deny it's theirs...

Giant Crimbo tree anyone? It keeps depositing it's shiny balls everywhere which are like tiny pink death traps, but it's otherwise in great nick!
