What mother of the groom think it's appropriate to totally steal the limelight from the bride by dancing a 7 minute dance with her son. Never mind the fact it's a cringe inducing Thriller/Gangnam style/moonwalking medley.

The groom wants a slap as well for agreeing to this. Bet the bride was well hacked off.

Sorry, it's a dm link for the dm haters.

"mum wants to dance with son at his wedding" horror.

Why must the bride be hacked off? He also did a choreographed dance with the groomsmen, why shouldn't he dance with his mum? Is one ok but not the other? Hmm

I would have loved DH to have danced with his mum at our wedding. Fact is she was too busy fawning over BIL (golden child) to notice DH Sad

She's not a nightmare mil op!!

This was really fun and a nice way to entertain guests, he works as a videographer and they only put it together the night before.

I gave up watching due to the embarrassment I was feeling for ghe pair of them, what were they both thinking!

The best thing about that is how awkward the groom looks - and the non-reactions of most of the guests! Grin

It is embarrassing and boring, yes.

But to say that this woman is going to be a nightmare mil is just plain daft.

In fed up of all the stupid mil threads on MN. There's always two sides of a story.

Well I reckon any woman who is happy to steal the limelight from the bride on what should be the bride and groom's day shows a serious lack of judgement and may well be the sort of person who thinks the world revolves around her. Grin

For all you know the bride was perfectly happy with it.

Some brides don't feel their wedding day is all about them and don't worry about the limelight.

Shock horror some see it as a family event. Celebration for everyone they know and love.

Maybe she would have been. Smile

Though she didn't know about it beforehand.....guess she could have thought it was a lovely suprise.

As for that soppy, vomit inducing ballad they were dancing to.... What was that all about?

Maybe it's my introverted personality but I'd sooner have pulled out my teeth with pliers than put on a performance like that.

Yes, I'm judging! GrinGrin

One dance maybe, seven minutes though???

To be honest I don't get these funny medleys fullstop, whether it's the bride and groom, groom and his mum, groom and the "groomsmen"

I get what you mean about stealing the limelight. I get that he was trying to do something fun, but why not do something with his wife? I really hope the bride didn't mind, but she might find herself more annoyed by it later if the only thing people remember from her wedding is the mad dance her husband did with his mum.

Yabu, choreographed dances are cringey in the extreme and desperately seeking the attention of online clicks but that doesn't mean she was trying to steal the bride's limelight or will be the mother in law from hell, in fact od the bride's only problem was someone taking her attention I would think that's where the groom's future problems would lie, in his bridezilla wife

YANBU It's cringing!

They leave the bride standing like a lemon, the MIL is barefeet (why!) and look tacky as hell. A 2 minutes dance might have been funny, 7 minutes is ridiculous when people can't dance. No-one in the room seem to be reacting either, compare with videos when the bride and groom dance and all their friends and family are cheering them on.

It's so bad I nearly feel sorry for them

Good grief lighten up ffs. It was a bit of fun!

No one is stealing the limelight form the bride. Wtf should it be all about the bride anyway? He's getting married as well!

Wink

I'll have you know I'm the perfect dil. Smile

The groom needing a slap was lighthearted. Actually the whole thread was. Maybe I should have put that in title. Hmm

I personally could not care less if the bride was happy or not.

I found it quite amusing but bloody long.

They could have halved that.

Maybe the groom wanted to do it with the bride but she didn't want to look like a twat so agreed for he and his mum to do it.

Doesn't mean she would be a nightmare MIL but just having a bit of fun

It was an American wedding was it not? The groom and mother dance is a thing in America and judging by YouTube these choreographed dances for them are becoming more common.

No. I've seen a mother and son dance where the mil was clinging on to her son like some weird smooch. She was crying Confused it was very uncomfortable to watch.

That video is just a mum and son having a laugh and entertaining their guests at his wedding.
