To think that I have the weirdest pregnancy cravings ever?

So they range from

chewing:
Toothbrushes
Sponges
Hair bands
Hair

Sniffing:
Any cleaning liquid
Shoe polish
New cars (orgasmic!)

Touching
Scratchy carpets

I had the same with my last pregnancy and seems to kick in around 25 weeks. Think it's iron related but WHY oh WHY these things and not a delicious steak?!

Anyone else get this or worse?!

Not in pregnancy, but our old cat loved chewing all the things in your first list. :-) Maybe you are low on fresh mice! :-)

Ahh yes, pica. I had it in my second pregnancy for ice. I'd buy a 2kg bag of ice and crunch through it all day as though it were crisps. Chipped my front tooth Sad. But it was worth it at the time, crazy for it. Wasn't anemic either, fuck knows what caused it. I think it's a great craving to have really, better than chips or cheese or anything else that will make you gain twenty stone.

I ate my bathroom sponge. Full of bathwater. Blush
From about 7 months I drank half a pint of dark ale/guinness stuff every few days. I usually hate beer but it's all I could think about, I really really craved it and couldn't resist.

I hang my head in shame.

Ijust when dm was pregnant with me the doctors told her to drink half a Mackisons of an evening to keep her iron levels up. I turned out fine! Grin

I'm just absolutely loving peanut butter m&ms, I'm rationing myself to 2 bags a week.

When I was pg, I used to go into a really cheap shoe shop during my lunch hr, and sniff the cheap plastic/rubber shoes. Every work day. For a good few minutes. I have no idea what that was all about.

I loved the smell in carpet shops, ate ice by the bucket load and has to resist eating soap powder. Hmm

With my first, I loved the smell of furniture polish but limited myself to one sniff a week. Ahhh pregnancy Grin

I used to wander round B&Q when pg with my first. The chalky dusty smell was amazing.
I also used to bite dishwasher tablets (and obviously spit them out, I just needed that zesty chalk between my teeth).
We were renovating and dp was plastering the walls and I bit into some lovely grainy plaster Shock
And ice. Pints and pints of Ice chips. I would take 2 pints up to bed and crunch my way through them. Drove dp mad with all the crunching and dripping.
We went out for dinner with friends and ordered a bottle of champagne. I ignored it but devoured the ice that was in the bucket. So weird!

I used to suck the water out of a bath flannel, then chew it. I also used to stick my head in the washing machine and smell it for several minutes at a time. Sometimes I'd get the urge at work and want to cry because I couldn't Blush. I also craved bubblegum calippos, I ate about 4 a day. The convenience store next to work used to order them in for me.

Cake my DM ate plaster when pregnant with DSis! She also used to scrape the mud from potatoes with her teeth and crunch it.

I was mad for ice and all things frozen. Grapes left in the freezer until they were frozen solid were a firm favourite too.

I also wanted fabric softener to drink and had to content myself with walking down the laundry aisle of the supermarket, opening all the bottles and having a big sniff.

Vinegar soaked bread Blush and mushy peas in a bowl with literally an inch deep puddle of vinegar floating on top Blush

Pillows. In my first pregnancy I bought a pillow every time I went out, I think I was trying to build an actual nest. We ended up with loads of them.

I didn't have any food cravings, but I so relate to the smell cravings! Creosote and freshly laid tarry roads were just amazing... DH had to drive me round and round until we found someone painting a fence so I could sit there and sniff ☺️ we found some road laying going on at the same time once and I could have stayed there hours.

I ate chalk constantly with second pregnancy. I couldn't get enough. It had to be a certain brand as well - can't remember what it was, but only one was "pure" enough!

I also liked dirt...

Funnily enough, only one pregnancy - I've had 2 girls and a boy and it was with the second girl. The first I just wanted salt and carbs, the last protein til it was coming out of my ears.

Jubbly's where mine with my last Pg - I had 4 a day

and cheese and tomato pizza - even though it gave me awful heart burn

with the other 2 it was milky coffee, dry roast peanuts, petrol (sniffing!) and watermelon

This pregnancy (granted, I'm not far in) I just want salad. As many fresh veggies as I can stuff in my face. I was looking forward to all these weird and wonderful things and nope, salad.

Wtf baby, wtf.

Hooray! I am clearly not the only weirdo here - moly, dont &boop - these sound really similar to mine. I spent far too long in Shoe Express in my last pregnancy.

I had ice cravings with both pregnancies after 34ish weeks, i used to crunch it by the pint full. First time round I couldn't stop eating polo mints and second times round it was parma violets. Home bargains sell them for 15p a pack for the giant ones, I bought them by the box full Blush I got through about 15 packs a week.

It was the smell of new carpets and new leather boots for me. I got all giddy when we went into a carpet shop!

I also used to love eating the face scrub I had.
