There has been suicide bomb blast in a park in Lahore, Pakistan. There are reported 69 deaths and 300+ injuries.

Mostly women and children.. www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-35908512 bbc link.

This isn't getting enough outcry, whilst the attacks in paris and belgium have been horrific these people are being attacked every single day.

I hope ianbu in showing you all this, but it needs more attention.

What about the 41 people who were blown up in Iraq yesterday at a football tournament? 17 of those were boys aged 10-16. Kids. Just kids playing football.

What price life?

Horrific kate there isn't a person out there unaware of recent europe attacks, but barely anyone knows about the suffering these poor souls are facing.

The lahore bombing is literally all over the news? How could anyone who follows the news not be aware of it?

I was aware of both. Watched less tv, less internet and less radio over Easter as family here but there is coverage.

Always though coverage and impact is greater the closer to home whether it is a war or a car accident.

obvious it's not just about one event.. Scroll to the other news and there are many more.
I could link everyone of them here if it would keep the issue on track??

Well, can you imagine the uproar if 169 (can't remember the exact figure) schoolgirls were kidnapped from Cheltenham Ladies College and smuggled off to fuckknowswhere? If we're still fussing over Maddie 7 years later, why is there barely any coverage for these girls one year on?

Am on my high horse now.

It's shocking wherever it is and I don't think just because there isn't the same outcry as there is about the Brussels bombings it means people don't care.

I just had a look and out of the 32,685 'terrorist' fatalities worldwide in 2014 nearly 10,000 of them were in Iraq Shock that's like the population of a UK market town totally wiped out! (Pakistan had 1,700 deaths and Europe 'only' 290).

It sounds callous to say that all 32,000+ can't be given the same amount of news coverage even though they're all equally as important lives lost, but that must figure in it.

Also the distance and infrequency of it happening in Europe must play a part.

I don't think that story has disappeared into the woodwork at all kate, there are still news stories about it now although they think most of the girls have 'disappeared' into slavery.

I know kate, you could just feel the fear radiating off that picture of them all sat together.

Poor parents too.

Wiki says there were 276 girls taken at first, and surprisingly has someone saying the publicity has made it nigh on impossible to get them back. Publicity = big thumbs up from boko haram.

I suppose they have a point even though you'd want the world to listen if someone had taken your child (like MM).

First story on Radio 4 news this morning. Lots of coverage on This Morning.
(I am watching tv as I have o drive to Gatwick this morning and the weather is horrific!).

It is a dreadful story but try not to make a moral point about it - (eg we only care about "our own"). I am sure that there are stories all over the world that you/ we never even hear about about.

By the way if you live abroad for a bit - and maybe you have - you realise how regional the news really is.

No doubt though that this is a particularly nasty attack - a children's play park FFS.
