AIBU?

AIBU to rehome my teenagers?

Twin girls. 13 year old. Going free to any good home.

They have fallen out. Over a pen. A fucking pen. Apparently it was a good pen and very different to the 5,000,000 other pens in the house.

So we now have a curtain stapled to the ceiling to split their bedroom, constant eye rolling and dramatics and tears at the dinner table because one wanted something, but couldn't speak to her to ask for it.

Anyone want them? If it sweetens the deal I'll throw in a 16-year-old boy who is enjoying the fallout so much that every now and again he makes and oh-so-innocent comment that accidentally sparks it all off again... (to be fair they have occasionally ganged up on him - when they are friends it can be creepy as they have a weird, silent communication thing going on).

Please tell me it gets better soon? DS was a walk in the park compared to this.

Sorry but YABU - a good pen is worth 1000 bad pens so I feel this is a justified argument

Just wait until they start dating. Grin

It will get better in about 5 years time. I can lend you a 15 yr old DD who will make you grateful for your two!

Sad I remember a DIY show once and (in the before bit) they had put fence panels down the middle of a bedroom shared by teens

I have a 14 year old male backchatter if anyone's interested. Answer for everything.

Got in the car
The fourteen year old then said ....I've got cooking tomorrow, do you have enough ingredients for me to cook a healthy dinner

[Wahhhhhhhhhhh]

Can any of them cook, clean or do child care?

Could be interested here if they do any of the above

I have a threenager If anyone is interested?
She's capable of having a full blown yelling argument (and winning) with 12yr old girls..

Oh no Owl. I had that last year. Angry

Then the 'do you have a vanilla pod' as we are stepping out the door to school.

He dropped cookery (or whatever it's called now) at the end of year 8. Hurrah!!

I'll raise you an 18 yr old male child who is stroppy, argumentative and often just plain obnoxious.

There are days when I would pay you to take him away.

YABU. A good pen is worth a fortune Wink

Mine start the argument with
'She's looking at me!'

No idea where to go with that statement!!

Oh God, do you have a vanilla pod? Mine once expected to find panko breadcrumbs in the pantry Confused
Mine is dropping cooking too, thank God. He's yr 9 but it's a three tier system here so they pick options in yr 9

Smugly reading this. Although we have 4 between us (and DSS is only 13 so there is worse to come) I remember 13-16 so well. I bear the scars to prove it. But there is life afterwards and if you (and they) survive they can actually turn into quite nice people! Drink wine, drink more wine, wish the next few years away, dread GCSE's and then suddenly just when you can't take any more a human will appear. I promise.
DD is 19 and DS is 18. It was hell. They LIKE me now.

I like that they ask you randomly
what is THE MATTER WITH YOU
When you've accidentally got eye contact with them Confused

It's 3 tier here too Owl but they let them drop stuff at the end of Year 8. I was all 'Are you sure that's right DS2?' but it was, so Music, art and cooking got the boot.

Just chosen Options for next year which was a bit baffling.

No to the vanilla pod. Bottle of essence was the best I could do.

Snowballs Apparently mine are delightful for other people too...

I also have a threenager. And an 8-going-on-18-yearold. Why am I even having another one? Why?

I once build a partition wall in their room because they begged for it. Hours were spent building it then painting it in their chosen different colours.

Three weeks it lasted. Three weeks before a 1 am meltdown about loneliness and missing each other.

RedFly I had "I know what she was thinking and I'm hurt by it..."

god op you are sooo embarrassing. None of their friends parents would try and rehome their teens. Why are you ruining their lives with your lame idea the other 5,000,000 pens are as good as that one.

BadDoGooder · 29/02/2016 21:45

teenmum I have a threenager too!
Aren't they fucking delightful?!

Do you get the screwed up face and the "NO!!!"?
I keep expecting DS to tell me he hates me!

OP I really feel for you, I was a shit, horrible teenager!..... drink/drugs/running away you name it! My mum's blood pressure must have been through the roof constantly.
I dread the DS is a teen and karma is visited upon me!

No words of wisdom I'm afraid, except to say that even the worst teen can turn into a normal human being eventually, I did! well sort of Grin

And copious amounts of Wine for you!!

Hmmmm I miiight be up for a swap, but can I confirm on Friday? You'd be getting a brand new baby boy - probably several hours old but TBC depending on time of swap - plus a highly strung toddler who says he's hungry, says yes to all foods offered and then throws the lot, pea by pea, on to the floor.
