To think I might be pregnant (please please tell me I am!)

So - I had unprotected sex about a month ago (I know I know - very stupid) The pregnancy risk was a worry, but my period arrived 8 days later so I figured all was good. Period was normal heavyish flow but quite 'clotty' (sorry for TMI!)

However, for the last few days I've felt really weird. My boobs are incredibly sore at a time in my cycle when they normally wouldn't be. I'm alternating between feeling nauseous and feeling so hungry that I can't get enough food down me. Do you think there's a chance I could be pregnant, even with having had my period.

I do have a pregnancy test but I'm putting off taking it as if it's positive it would be a bloody disaster!

So - before I take it I'm looking for reassurance - and please, no safe sex lectures - believe me this won't happen again!!

Just realised my title is a bit misleading - I mean please tell me I'm unreasonable, not please tell me I'm pregnant!!

RudeElf Mon 29-Feb-16 11:51:02

Take the test. No one here can tell you anything.

ManneryTowers Mon 29-Feb-16 11:51:36

Just take the test. How can anyone on here possibly give you a more certain answer?!

ManneryTowers Mon 29-Feb-16 11:51:58

Sorry Elf, massive cross post

gamerchick Mon 29-Feb-16 11:52:38

You know what to do, go do it.

RedOnHerHedd Mon 29-Feb-16 11:53:51

You're probably not, you've more than likely just wound yourself up with worry over it. Take the test and put your mind at rest thanks

WorraLiberty Mon 29-Feb-16 11:53:56

What's the point in this thread?

Just POAS.

WonderingAspie Mon 29-Feb-16 11:54:09

No one can tell you this so it seems daft that you are posting it. I'd say it's unlikely tbh. Just pee on the stick!

Chchchchange Mon 29-Feb-16 11:54:46

Not remotely a lecture but you do know if this happens again there's the morning after pill?

I think you just have to take the test. Hope you get the result you want

tobysmum77 Mon 29-Feb-16 11:57:21

I reckon yabu

The nausea is probably a virus and monthly symptoms can vary. But take the effing test smile

LagunaBubbles Mon 29-Feb-16 11:59:23

YABU expecting people on the internet to tell you "dont worry you wont be pregnant" when all you need to do is test.

EponasWildDaughter Mon 29-Feb-16 11:59:27

You had unprotected sex 8 days before your period was due (so probably a bit too late to catch ovulation if you have an average cycle) and then had the period as normal.

So if the unprotected sex was about a month ago that would mean that you're now roughly in the middle of your next cycle and the symptoms you describe could be down to ovulation coming round again.

You're probably not preg. But take the test and then you'll know.

OohMavis Mon 29-Feb-16 12:00:15

If you had a period it is extremely unlikely that you are pregnant. Random hormone surges can occur at any time in your cycle, which can cause the symptoms you describe.

Take the test, ease your mind. And if it is positive, it's best to know now so you can consider your options as early as possible.

StillDrSethHazlittMD Mon 29-Feb-16 12:01:11

YABU to post a pointless thread.

Hiphopopotamus Mon 29-Feb-16 12:05:51

Yep I know the thread is pointless, and I know a test can tell me far more than you fine lovely people. Sometimes people just need a bit of cajoling and handholding! Plus it's good to hear other people's opinions on the likelihood.

CakeNinja Mon 29-Feb-16 12:06:15

Oh yes you are definitely pregnant. I can see inside you.
I might be lying.
Take the bloody test confused

BooAvenue Mon 29-Feb-16 12:08:26

I'll hold your hand but please do the test!

As stated by others, the chance of you being pregnant is very slim given that you've had a regular period so yes YABU to think you are pregnant, if in doubt test.

fuzzpig Mon 29-Feb-16 12:15:36

It's very unlikely.

C'mon OP just POAS, you can do it smile <makes waterfall/trickling stream sounds>

Hennifer Mon 29-Feb-16 12:18:49

You can test but it would be a waste of a test as you've already had a period since you had sex.

I wouldn't.

WorraLiberty Mon 29-Feb-16 12:27:23

Plus it's good to hear other people's opinions on the likelihood.

Why?? Unless you really want to milk the whole thing, it will make no difference to you whatsoever.

KitKat1985 Mon 29-Feb-16 12:29:47

Given that you've had a period, it would be very, very unlikely. Take the test and put your mind at rest.

Thurlow Mon 29-Feb-16 12:30:05

Well, the likelihood is slim as you had a period 8 days later, which was too early to be any kind of miscarriage or passing of a failed implantation or anything like that.

But you do have to test. If any of us were that magic at predicting pregnancy we wouldn't be pissing around on MN in the middle of the day, because we'd be out making our fortune.
