AIBU?

Ebayer has messaged me 23 times asking for feedback

Buyer bought an item from me a few weeks ago, transaction was perfectly straightforward.

Initially I just forgot to leave feedback due to being generally busy at work/feeling rubbish in first few weeks of pregnancy. The buyer then sends me an email asking me to leave feedback-and I think ooh yes must do that...

Then a few hours later, sends me another one. In the last 7 days I have received x23 of the same email asking for feedback. At this stage, I kind of feel tempted not to leave any at all, but am I being horribly petty?! Just don't appreciate the hounding!

WWYD?

I'd leave him a nice big negative for the harassment and report him to eBay

Leave feedback, but make a point of mentioning how much you have been hounded for it..?

Leave feedback saying 'I'm leaving feedback as requested, 23 times'

Leave negative feedback for the harassment.

Any more than 3 requests is harassment... Strange that the buyer doesn't think that they are more likely to get a poor review if you keep hounding so persistently!

I don't leave feedback either way anymore it's totally pointless especially for buyers who can't be negged even if they fail to pay, have unreasonable expectations, complain about the slightest thing etc.

Sad needy buyers begging for feedback really wind me up. Who fucking cares what your eBay feedback score is? In what universe does it actually matter as a buyer?

Forgot sellers can't neg. I'd leave no feedback at all then. No one really reads comments of positive feedback. So even commenting on his behaviour won't matter. On principle id leave nothing

Block them too just in case they decide on a future purchase to be able to neg you...

Tbh it's 30 seconds to leave Fb. Just do it Smile

Yes they've already left positive feedback for me...

Born-Love that suggestion- I think I might just do that!

Will def have to block from future purchases just in case though Wink

If you're new to eBay you don't get paid until you get positive feedback or 21 days I think. They may be skint and need the money from the sale. It's quite a new thing someone messaged me and explained why they'd like feedback.

PayPal sit on the money it's a great way for PayPal to jeep everyone's money for a few days, adds up over millions of transactions.

But Lynn the person messaging was a buyer not a seller!

I agree it's harassment, but then to be devils advocate here, it probably took you longer to write this AIBU than it would have done to have left feedback....

Send one reminder for feedback and I'm happy to do it. 23 and I'd be blocking them. I hate getting so many notifications. Could it be a fault on eBay?

"Could it be a fault on eBay?"

Good point Notquitehuman. I'd be inclined to email the buyer and ask if s/he meant to send 23 messages asking me to leave feedback. They may not have done.

Ah yes hadn't considered that it could be a fault- perhaps I'll pop them a note to check.

It has certainly taken me longer to write the post that it would do to leave feedback, but it was sort of a point of principle! I accept that I am probably being petty Smile

I'm a stubborn cow as well so I'd be determined not to leave it - unless it actually has been a fault - is the message exactly the same every time?

23 messages over 7 days? I doubt it would be an Ebay glitch...

4 years ago I got a parking ticket in a car park which I appealed as the machine wouldn't take my cash. In the end I had to pay it as it was my word against theirs even though they had CCTV of the machine. Anyway I told them they'd lose in the end as I would never use their car park again. 4 years on (and a different car) and I still haven't even though the other one is further away. I'm very stubborn!

I would leave negative for the hounding!

notquitehuman · 22/02/2016 22:03

Maybe not a glitch with ebay itself. Maybe they keep clicking 'request feedback' and it's coming up with an error. So they assume it's not going through and keep trying. Might be worth messaging to point this out.

I had 3 identical emails from eBay seller today, all answering my question about postage. eBay might well be having a glitch

I had this from a buyer once.
I never give feedback, I can't be bothered and it's pretty meaningless anyway. She then gave me a negative for not replying to her messages even though the rest of the transaction was ok, Hmm

I left negative feedback for being harassed like this about two years ago.
Seller sent half a dozen requests. I politely replied stating that I leave all my feedback on a block once a month and to please not email me about this again. When another half dozen arrived over the course of the following week he got his feedback :

"good item but constant hassling for feedback means I wouldnt use this seller again "

Negative and one star for communication.

Its very very annoying, especially after you've politely requested they stop. Unfortunately you have to be blunt with some folk.
