they are called "Model Agency UK" I responded to an ad on facebook for child models with my DS in mind who is ten ...have been told loads of times he should model. and, sorry if i sound a twat, but he is very striking, tall and very good looking. he doesn't get it from me anyway I know I am biased Blush but anyway i thought I would give it a go and sent some details and pics via an online application form.

they emailed back a couple of days later. it said they could see the "potential" in DS as a model and invited us to a test shoot, which would allow them to evaluate how he would look and behave in from of the camera and to decide if he would be suitable for paid work. It said the cost of this would be covered by the agency.

However, I can't actually get hold of them by phone and it just sounds dodgy. you get through to a "booking line" to book the test shoot but they are not part of the agency and cant answer any of my questions. there is a direct line for the agency itself but it just rings out. has anyone actually used them and been successful? or are they dodgy?

DD had this and from memory what happens is shoot is free but then they give you nothing in the way of the photos etc unless you front up serious money to get them, on the promise they will find you work. Often the portfolio is poor quality too. Avoid.

Well if you have told he should model....then he should Confused
Does he even want to?

Sounds like a scam to get you to buy pictures. My sister did that as a teen. Joined an agency like that, paid a bomb for poor quality pictures....nothing airbrushed....you could even see the stubble marks under her arms where she had shaved her arm pits earlier. They had no professional lighting, to mask things like that, nothing at all. But after paying a bomb for the pictures, they never got her any work.

Yes you are completely unreasonable to try to sign your 10 year old up with a model agency; particularly one you suspect is dodgy Confused

There's a thread in 'Parenting' about m0dels.co.uk - I think they may be the same company. Sorry, can't paste the link

yes that's the one goldplated thanks will go and have a look for it ...and yes he does want to do it sothat ....and yeah that's exactly the kind of thing I have heard about and obviously want to avoid. I know that reputable agencies wont charge anything unless they get you actual work.

thanks all x Flowers
