AIBU?

To ask you all to tell me WHY I shouldn't do MLM?

ASAS · 10/02/2016 21:19

C'mon you lot, talk me down. Thank you in advance.

I won't actually go for it, but really only because I already work from home (public sector) and find it quite isolating.

But why shouldn't I just go for MLM? Even if it doesn't work out won't I only loose £200 for the business in a box or whatever it's called.

I hate my job. I hate my organisation. Why shouldn't I try MLM? They're all off shopping or going on holiday or eating out ALL THE TIME. Why shouldn't I go for it?

I really won't but ATM can honestly see the temptation

What's MLM Confused

What friends you have will hide from you and not answer the phone. And mock your Facebook posts on mumsnetters.

Because it is not a real job.

And it does something to your brain. my previously normal friends have morphed into a juiceplusbot multi shared personality thing.

BillSykesDog · 10/02/2016 21:23

It's immoral. Someone always loses out, and often the person who can least afford it.

Report
cantgonofurther · 10/02/2016 21:24

You will spend more than £200!

Report
PinotAndPlaydough · 10/02/2016 21:25

Ahh right, in that case no. £200 is a lot of money to waste and it's really just so awful and antisocial to harass friends and family in the way that they do.

You will only make money if you exploit your friends and family.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 10/02/2016 21:31

Because you'll either be throwing £200 away or have to sell your soul to the devil and harass the money out of your friends.

It doesn't sound hugely appealing to me TBH Wink.

Join Timeless vie, the MN spoof MLM (google it!). Or peruse the long running threads in money matters where we laugh at obviously lying mlmers, and realise exactly how much money most of them are conned into losing.

Report
3WiseWomen · 10/02/2016 21:39

Because I have tried (a very very long time ago, when MN was still a baby) and it doesn't work.
Soul destroying at its best, crap products anyway. I feel ashamed to have even tried all those years later Blush

here's one reason why

and another with links to many more

And as a related question- why to local branches of then NCT seem to tacitly support one of the murkiest MLMs - Forever Living? Eg stalls at all their events etc?

They are all using smoke and mirrors to create the impression of an amazing lifestyle by the way

"They're all off shopping or going on holiday or eating out ALL THE TIME."

they aren't - its BS designed to get you to sign up.

scarlets · 10/02/2016 21:46

All your friends will hide you on Facebook and you'll only realise it when you finally post something of note, but nobody comments.

People will feel sorry for you, but not enough to spunk £200.

Because people who once respected you will roll their eyes and wonder how you could be so stupid as to fall for the bullshit as I did earlier to a friend who has just become a juiceplusbot and left an amazing job to do so

MazzleDazzle · 10/02/2016 22:01

As well as forking out £200 and conning everyone you can into doing the same, you have to spend £168 EVERY month on products for personal use. This is on top of your sales target. You will have to pay for every course, every book, every night away in a hotel...my DH worked out that you'd need to recruit 20 people, each of them hitting their targets, before you'd make a penny.
