AIBU?

AIBU to think Masterchef USA is a horrible, horrible thing?!

Ok, so UK Masterchef isn't everyone's cup of tea, possibly a bit stuffy and dated... (I don't think that; it's my favourite programme ever!)
But Christ almighty, Masterchef USA is just AWFUL. Gordon Ramsay and his two pals just shouting around like sweary wankers, being outright offensive.

"How dare you put this plate of fucking shit in front of me?"
"It looks like a pig's shit on this plate"
etc.
Going on and on until you've got the poor cook well and truly in tears!

Anybody else watched this?

THIS IS NOT A COOKING PROGRAM, IT'S JUNK TV FOR PEOPLE WHO NEED CONSTANT EXCITEMENT TO STAY INTERESTED!!!

Ok, rant over!

Watched one episode, and DH told me off for swearing at the TV. Can't stand Gordon Ramsey anyway. I think he puts it all on for show.
It just seemed like a contest of who can be the most obnoxious twat.

Oh it's not all that bad, but definitely nowhere near as good as the Uk one. The tasks seem dumbed down as well.

GR also does the MC junior here and is really patient and lovely eith the kids. One of them dropped a dish of hot butter with steak all over his foot this past week. You could tell he wanted to have a rant but he managed to contain it Grin

Yeah I figured that when their first task was peeling apples! Grin

Yanbu, the one where the judges were spitting out the food was horrible. Felt so sorry for the contestants. Nothing compares to the Australian version.

So why's this Aussie one so good? I've never seen it!

I watched one episode and it was awful. Like a really bad version of the Aussie one.

I think the Aussie one has a well balanced panel of judges who are firm but fair. Good range of tasks and reasonable expectations of amateur chefs who want to take it to the next level (although sometimes the desert challenges are just mean...the bloody croquembouche)

We've only watched the Australian one for years - it's funny, warm, encouraging and so diverse - you get to see such a range of food from all over the world.

Yes, my kids instantly recognise a croquembouche now Grin!

It's awful, did anyone else see the episode where they were given live crabs to cook? One girl had clearly never been given any instruction as to how to kill it humanely Sad Angry

I watched our one and enjoyed it, I did't like the Australian one at all. They were far too stern.

I do however love trashy American tv so will have to watch it now.

If anyone wants to borrow my series 1-9 of Kardashians, give me a nod.

The Canadian one is good.
