AIBU?

to think that a ham AND cheese sandwich is a teeny bit extravagant?

I know, I know!

We had friends round for the day this weekend and lunch was a "make your own sandwich" type affair, all bits out, put what you want in it. There was cheese, ham, tuna, salady bits, pickles and sauces etc.

Now my friend Bob* had ham AND cheese in his sandwich Shock To me, that seemed like he was having two fillings in one sandwich - terribly indulgent Grin

*Name changed to protect sandwich eater's identity ;)

Shrugs.
We have toasted ham and cheese croissants in our house. 😁

Ham and cheese sandwiches are wrong on all levels.

Yabu, ham, cheese or ham and cheese are all perfectly acceptable sandwich combinations. Have you seriously never had a ham and cheese sandwich?! Shock

Ham and cheese is a perfectly acceptable sandwich filling.

But my favourite is bacon, tomato and avocado.

Blimey. Shock I rarely make 'one ingredient' sandwiches. It is allowed you know!

Ham AND cheese? What next, lobster AND caviar?

Hmm

OP how do you feel about a club sandwich?

Ham and cheese in a croissant?

The sheer indulgence!

Nope, ham an cheese is lovely.

Ham on its own is SO boring, and tastes of nothing, it NEEDS something else to give it a bit of zest... tomato or cheese are the only acceptable accompaniments!

seriously?? yabu
never go to a deli in America as they have sandwiches about a foot high with about 6 fillings

Oh what a rude guest, never, ever speak to him again and perhaps send him a text explaining exactly why. How dare he have more than one of those fillings of that selection that was out to help himself to! Rude man.

What? Isn't that a pretty standard thing to do?!

It's Okay, I have been known to partake in a bacon, sausage and egg sandwich :P

Ham + cheese = perfect sandwich. I'm surprised there are still people who don't know this.

"Butter OR jam, Phyllis dear, not butter AND jam".

Oh, this reminds me of a book I read as a child set in the Victorian era, I think it might have been The Peppermint Pig, and the mother goes, 'Butter OR jam, we can't afford such reckless luxuries any more.' It obviously made a great impression on me!

Not extravagant in the slightest. A bit minimalist if you ask me. What about lettuce, tomato and butter/mayo?

I think I shall text him, maybe even bill him for the sandwich Grin

Almost all sandwiches are improved by the addition of cheese.

Oh yes, American sandwiches make ours look very sad indeed.

Both DH and DD love ham and cheese sandwiches!

My post reads more rude than jokey now that I can't change it. Sorry about that OP.
