Cold callers

I was at my friends for lunch today when one of those PPI people called. My friend spoke to them and arranged a home visit for later this week. I was surprised she did especially as they are ment to go on holiday tomorrow.

My friend explained that her and her DH always arrange home visits for when they are not home with people who cold call. They both think its funny.

I disagreed with her telling her that the people who call aren't the ones that come to the house and it was unfair of her.

She response was tough shit. These people deserve what they get. She said she blocks the name after arranging the visit so they can't phone her again and uses her maiden name arranging. She said 1 person came back later on the day she had arranged for him to come to find out why she wasn't in. She said when she opened the door she denied all knowledge telling him she was signed up to TPS so shouldn't get cold calls. The guy was pretty annoyed and she said she again thought it was funny.

Apparently this is what a lot of folk do. Now I hate cold calls and will often not answer them. I occasionally take the piss out of a percussionist caller but never do what she does.

Abit, sounds like too much hard work to me, I have a good rant at them about my opinion on the welfare state or I sing Agadoo at them, it wastes their time but I wouldn't go as far as getting them to come round.

All she has to do is tell them to take her number off their database and then hang up.

Cold callers annoy me in a big way but I would never do this. Seems very childish. Are your friend and her husband immature in other ways Op. Not sure I could be friends with someone who thought doing stuff that this was funny.'

No not really that's why I was surprised. Dh and I can be childish I suppose, in terms of our bickering and our interests but not when it comes to others.

Even if you don't like someone or what someone does why fuck with their job?

Over the past few months several of our friends seem to have developed odd and often mean behaviour such as this. I think we must be a bit shit at closing friends.

What a brilliant idea, she has my vote.
They are a bloody menace and if you think they remove your number if you ask them, then you're deluded.
There was a programme about it on tv, some of them are horrible.

I have no sympathy tbh, take the job and it's unethical practices, you deserve what you get.
I'll be considering this approach from now on as we get at least a dozen of the sods every day.
