To throw water on my cat

Cat went out before - opened the door, barged it's way out. Cat is now howling to come in. I open the door to let cat in, cat runs off. I go back in, cat starts yowling.

And repeat.

It's disturbing me, it's probably disturbing the neighbours. WIBU to throw water on him?

Isn't this just normal cat behaviour? My cat mithers to go out then changes her mind when she realises it's freezing. 10 minutes later she wants to go out again.

I have two doors into my garden. My cats go out one open door and then wail at the closed one until I get up and open it. Then they go straight out the other door and do it again.

Throwing water on him won't teach him to change his behaviour, all cats do this. They learn it at their mothers' knees.

All you'll do is frighten him and make him wet and cold.

A cat flap is definitely the way to go. I wouldn't have a cat without one.

My cats do this too. They want you to be aware they're ignoring you...otherwise what's the point? My cats will wake me up so they can ignore me better :/
