To just really, really hate mornings?

Just that. Especially in winter when it's so fucking cold. I always wake up feeling tired & sluggish, regardless of how much I've slept and how many times DD woke in the night.

It takes me ages to get my shit together , if DH is around I don't speak to him or if I do it's mumbling & groaning, which usually creates tension & friction before the day has started!

Now, the other way - I can happily stay up until 2, 3 in the morning (can't and don't very often these days but still), and when I do I can be very productive & inspired! But mornings, no.

Is it just me or anyone else feel like this? I wish I was need to become an early bird.

stqueen Wed 13-Jan-16 14:15:21

Possibly just me, then!

wasonthelist Wed 13-Jan-16 14:20:44

Yanbu,in fact are you me?

GraysAnalogy Wed 13-Jan-16 14:22:35

I feel like crying every morning. I wake up at 6. I lie in bed wracking my brains thinking of a good excuse not to get up. I can't think of one, so drag my arse to a 13 hour shift promising myself I will have an early night when I get home. I end up staying up till about 12, curse myself then go to sleep. Rinse and repeat.

I really wish I was an early bird too, I'm just alive at night!

LuciaInFurs Wed 13-Jan-16 14:24:16

Me too! I'm a lifelong insomniac though so mornings are like torture. DH is a morning person and is so bloody cheery, I'm so jealous.

TheSecondViola Wed 13-Jan-16 14:26:02

Fuck yeah. I am wide awake and can be productive at 2am. At 7,30, I want everyone to fuck off and leave me alone for another 3 hours at least.

I don't think its something you can change though?

Tokelau Wed 13-Jan-16 14:34:31

I'm just like you OP. Mornings are hard.

5minutestobed Wed 13-Jan-16 14:37:22

Yep me too. So glad DS has stopped getting up at 5am, that was killer!

UntilTheCowsComeHome Wed 13-Jan-16 14:40:21

Yep, me too.

Don't go to bed until anywhere between 12:30 and 2am, then really hate waking up in the morning. I'm grumpy, depressed and will only do the minimum required to get myself and DS out of the house.

GraysAnalogy Wed 13-Jan-16 14:41:51

It makes me thankful I can just roll out, have the quickest shower in existence and shove my scrubs on. Hair up in a bun. No farting around just me stomping about doing the minimum.

Scoopmuckdizzy Wed 13-Jan-16 14:41:51

Eurgh. Mornings are horrendous at the moment. I'm with you!

blackheartsgirl Wed 13-Jan-16 15:27:21

Same here, its torture

stqueen Wed 13-Jan-16 15:42:51

most mornings I'm watching the news thinking how the hell do the presenters look so chirpy, well turned out & AWAKE so fucking early?? I just can't do it angry

Plus it has an indirect knock on effect to my whole day as I can't be arsed to make an effort in the morning at the moment with my clothes, hair & makeup, so unless I do hair/makeup on the go I look like shite. No exaggeration. Clearly it's not bothering me enough to do something about it hmm but the most I can manage is get out of bed on time, feed DD & pets & get out of the door.

DH is convinced it's because I eat too late at night (8-9ish) & go to bed too late (11-12ish). He's probably right but changing it doesn't make a difference. Wah.

stqueen Wed 13-Jan-16 15:44:02

I must add I find time to --force myself to--shower & dry hair - but that's it confused

SerendipityDooDah Wed 13-Jan-16 15:51:07

Same here. It's always been a struggle, and I always feel guilty for it. But this article is interesting and makes me feel a bit better.

DisappointedOne Wed 13-Jan-16 16:16:09

Fellow night owl here. Being spoken to before 11am makes me want to shoot people.

Oldisthenewblack Wed 13-Jan-16 16:25:50

Mornings should be made illegal. I am useless in the morning, always have been. I'm the same as Disappointed One - anyone talking to me before noon risks a punch in the head. Luckily, I live alone grin

Xmasbaby11 Wed 13-Jan-16 16:30:59

I'm the same. It all feels like the middle of the night to me, until about 10 am. Having two boisterous children to deal with every morning is a nightmare.

RumBabaPudding Wed 13-Jan-16 16:39:00

I can get out of bed early and be quite productive, but would love to have more energy in the evenings/night - what do you all do until 2am?

I just sit and watch tv/Mumsnet til bedtime.

Recordmirror Wed 13-Jan-16 16:45:09

I'm another one who hates mornings. I have to make sure the DCs school stuff is all set out the night before or I forget something important.
Some of the playground mums get up an hour early just to do their hair and makeup and I'm the one who rolls out of bed at the latest possible moment.

DisappointedOne Wed 13-Jan-16 16:52:21

what do you all do until 2am?

Study, watch TV, do the washing/ironing, Hoover, online shopping, book holidays, organise diaries.......

PumpkinPie2013 Wed 13-Jan-16 20:35:05

I also don't like mornings - especially cold, dark ones!

I need at least two cups of tea before I feel ready to be sociable but usually only have time for one before I need to leave for work.

I make mornings as easy as possible by having everything ready the night before including lunches made. I'm still grumpy though grin

DH and DS like the radio/TV on whereas I would prefer silence because the noise (and chirpy presenters) drives me madangry

Worst was when DS was younger and used to get up at about 5.45am - I'd put cbeebies on to be greeted by 'me too' - you know, that program with all the ridiculously happy people singing jolly songs as they go to work?! Used to make me want to throw things at the TV but DS loved it!

2016Candles Wed 13-Jan-16 20:39:22

Fricking hate getting up!

Luckily my DH is a bouncy, shiny, happy morning person who gets up an hour or two before me and brings me up a cuppa in bed every morning. he accepts what I am like, and knows that I have sit in bed and drink said tea and watch TV news for about 20 mins before I can even speak grin.

I have been like this forever. You'd think having two children (including one who was a terrible sleeper as a baby) would have snapped me out of it, but no. Just not a morning person.

stqueen Thu 14-Jan-16 07:34:39

And here we go again angry

2016Candles I too thought having DD would sort out my morning hate but it's actually made it worse. More to do in the morning, more guilt if I wake late, & hasn't made a scrap of difference to me not wanting to 'spring' out of bed. Funny that. hmm

littlemermaid80 Thu 14-Jan-16 07:40:48

Good morning! grin
