Invited to a party for an adult's birthday next month. Theme is "James Bond - Dress to Thrill". Hmm

We are a stocky bloke, curvy overweight brunette woman and 5 year old child. How the fuff do we do Bond?!

Well, no it's not stupid just because you don't like it. Hmm Quite a common fancy dress theme.

I have just done a Google image search of James Bond fancy dress. There's loads of ideas.

We had a James Bond party at uni and it was fun.

If OH is stocky, how about going as Odd job (suit and bowler hat).

You could be Moneypenny (secretary).

Your child could take a stuffed cat and be the one that Dr evil is based on (can't remember the name).

Or, you could take lots of stuff cats and say you are Pussy Galore.

It's not too difficult, there are lot wolf options. What would an easier theme be op?

It's not really the planner's fault that you're 'stocky' and 'curvy' though, is it?

I'm sure there's loads you could be!

Oh god I've got to go to a party soon with exactly this theme. DH is refusing to dress up. I hadn't thought of Moneypenny - might nick that idea. Will have to be the old sensible version not the current foxy babe mind you.

It's really easy, it's just black tie with a gun tbh.

Barabajagal · 10/01/2016 20:47

Carry a golden gun and wear what you like?

And I'm with you. Bloody hate fancy dress - I'd quite like to just be able to go to a party as 'best possible version of myself' Confused

YABU

Kid as white cat (or in suit - try eBay)

DH in suit and get a bowler or just in a DJ

You either a Moneypenny or M (am also short and 'curvy' so channeled my inner Judi Dench and went as M

Op there's some really funny ones here. What you thinking so far??

Surely it's one of the easier fancy dress themes ..... Wear a dinner jacket or smart suit, and evening dress / party frock. Hair & make-up your normal "going out" glammed up a bit.
Minimal expense, no stupid masks / wigs / face paints / costumes required.

You go as Blofeld. 5 year old goes as the cat.

I would go as a curvy brunette James Bond

And dress DH up as Moneypenny

It's supposed to be fun!

Adult fancy dress. Ewww. I would give it a swerve.

Oh I hate fancy dress
I really lack imagination and end up buying shit expensive costumes online, wearing once and then sending to charity shops afterwards!
And I've never seen a James Bond.
I'd stick a nice dress on and say i had come in a fancy dress.
5 year old would go in a dressing up outfit already owned (Hulk is current favourite) and dp would wear normal clothes.
Sorted.
I wouldn't say it was a stupid theme, just that I wouldn't like it!

Isn't it just another way of saying black tie and hoping a couple of people turn up dressed comically?
