AIBU?

Fed up with Next's weird, inconsistant sizing system.

I recently bought a pair of their black 'high waist enhancer' straight leg jeans in a size 12.

The thigh part is super tight on ( I have average sized thighs) and yet the waist and stomach area, after wearing the whole day, is way too roomy.
In fact, after a day's wear, the waist is now gaping at the back and the stomach area is bagging - just what you don't want in a pair of jeans. Jeans should be fitting and pull you in a bit around the stomach area.

I have another pair of black tapered trousers from Next, same size and they are way too tight on the waist.

AIBU to want to never shop at this place again until they sort their goddam sizes out once and for all?

I'm wondering whether as well as the silly sizings, they're also putting too much lycra (or other elasticated material) in their garments. Or something. Confused

Yanbu, I however find their sizing too large. I'm an 8 yet feel their tops are huge and more like a 10/12 fit on me. I have long since stopped buying there

I tweeted them about this and did not get a satisfactory response according to the website, a size ten pair of jeans is 29 inches - mine were hanging off me so I measured and they are a 32 inch waist. Which is more like a 14 in old money.

I have to buy a size down in there.

Next are a nightmare, the waists are invariably too big, thighs too small and leg length for people of 5'8". Their tops are sized too big and I've often had to go down to a size 6-I'm definitely a size 10. Its not even vanity sizing because I often wonder what proportioned women fit in slot of their trousers, with their skinny thighs and large tummies. That said I have two pairs of denim360 leggings from next that are an amazing fit- needless to say they don't do them anymore!

I have no idea what 'fit in slot' means and can't remember what I meant instead- apologies for the typo!!

I hate hate hate NEXT clothes. Utter crap.

The designs are very nice but after one wash they are fit for nothing but the bin!

Arms become baggy after wearing only a few hours.

Their bedding and homeware is really good though.

Next sizes are weird. I can't fit in their trousers- not even a size 18 - but wear a 14 with no problems everywhere else.

Oh wow. I'm tall with a huge stomach and slim legs. Need to shop in next!

Sizing in all of the shops is all over the place these days.

I tried on a pair of size 8 jeans in Dorothy Perkins yesterday, they were hanging off me and I could pull them down without undoing the button or zip.

Yet I've got a pair of jeans from there a few years old that are size 10 and fit like a glove.

Next sizes are massive, I gave up altogether when even their size 6 clothes were hanging off me.

I've got a pair of Next skinny jeans in a 12 and they are way too big at the waist, I've had to buy a belt to stop them falling down.

Yet in the petite section I can only get into a 14.

It is ridiculous. A genuine size 8 customer wouldn't be able to shop there, I've got a few size 8 things that are too big and I'm a 28 inch waist. I'm not a size 8!

I can't shop there at all. Their size 6 is massive (I'm definitely only a size 8 elsewhere - sometimes a size 10).

I have bought an emergency sweater / cardigan from there twice in the last year. Their size 6 petite are so big that on both occasions it felt that it was actually 2 sizes bigger than the label said.

Bizarrely I have just bought a pair of skinny jeans via the directory today, identical fit/ size to 2 other pairs I have and the bloody things are too big. I'm currently washing them at 60 before placing them in the tumble dryer. Fingers crossed ..... Even stranger is they are bigger in the legs and my thighs are the biggest bit of me.

I recently bought a size 14 pair of jeans from Next and they fit perfectly (I am a size 14). A few days later, I picked up a pair of jeans from H&M without checking the size, tried on and purchased. Got them home to find they were a size 18!!!! Measured them against my Next jeans (which whilst roomy, I still believe were a size 14) and the size 18 jeans were actually smaller!

Every time I try to buy a pair of jeans, it takes at least 10 different shops to find a decent pair that fit.

I agree! DD1 has a real hourglass figure, with a very small waist in comparison to her bum and boobs, and finding jeans that fit her is a nightmare. Found a pair of skinny jeans in there which fitted perfectly, suggested she get a pair in black (same style) as well. She tried on the black jeans, couldn't get them up her legs, and the size 12 were huge!

Yanbu, I've always found their sizing terrible. Tops too short in length and too wide in the body, and trousers/jeans are just ridiculous.

Next are a bit weird. I got a dress there which was a really strange fit, it was tight on the shoulders, huge on the chest ( and I've got big boobs so should have filled it), baggy on the waist and hips then tight on the legs. It was all sizes.
Sometimes the fit is really good and sometimes its terrible, really huge or way too small.

I gave up on trousers from there years ago - but some tops fit fine all over the body but the arms seemed to be designed for two sticks - if I buy a size 20 top I am less likely to have sticks as arms - my arms aren't actually excessively huge but I find sleeves are always too tight!

Next are the only shop that fits my weird body perfectly. Yabu, because there is no one shape that fits everyone, but then you also are nbu, because it is annoying when one thing fits and another doesnt Grin

Op I have the same jeans as you - they felt right when I tried them on in the shop but went baggy on the waist immediately so now I rarely wear them as I'm constantly pulling them up! Even wearing a belt doesn't solve the problem as the tight fit on my thighs seems to drag the waist down.

Next are a nightmare, the waists are invariably too big, thighs too small

It's as if people in the Design Department got together and thought ''people are getting bigger in the waists' so lets make ALL the waists really big from now on''

Nuts.

But that doesn't e explain the thighs being too tight.
What's that all about? Confused

I have the same problem with next trousers.
Size 12 too tight on thigh, but gaping waist.
Size 14 too big.

And their changing room mirrors are awful.

Tops too short in length

Their roll neck rib tops, of which I bought 2, for wearing under thick itchy cardigans, are ridiculously short.

Clothes either too short, too tight, too big.
What a Mess they've turned into.

hazelnut,
I ended up buying a belt. Maybe that's their plan?
Make all the waists on everything too baggy to sell more belts. Grin
