AIBU?

To think there's just no need for nudist beaches?

A bit of background. I live in South Australia and there are some very beautiful beaches here. One of them is a legal nude beach...by legal I mean it's not just "become" nude over time, but it had a State law passed...to ensure that people could go there and be clothes free.

Now in essence I agree that there probably should be a place where people can enjoy being naked for a while...the human body is a great thing...BUT this beach is full of perverts.

No families go there and only a very, very few women. The men are all middle aged and older and it most is men.

When women do go there, men will blatantly wank in front of them or stare...not ALL the men but some. Others hide in the bushes, wanking and taking pictures.

I think this beach should be reclaimed for the general populace.

House prices in the area are low because who wants that as their local beach?

They have a yearly "nude games" and this year the council have stated that all children attending must have their genitals covered....they said this due to complaints from the public...the nudists have said they will agree to the new rule but they don't "condone it".

Why? And why have the council said this about children being nude if they REALLY think it's all harmless fun?

Sounds pretty grim for various reasons. However, makes me feel sorry for genuine nudists who believe in nudsm as a way of life. There must be some nudists on here who can offer their experiences. Not sure all nudist beaches should be banned because of your beach's problems, but not sure if this is a common scenario.
Perhaps, instead of making rules about the games, your council could work to better regulate the beach.

Yabu. It shouldn't be banned because some perverts frequent it.

The perverse behaviour should tackled. Wanking in bushes isn't ok. Intimidating women isn't ok.

The nudists themselves would tackle this behaviour if they see it. But surely that's down to the police?

Would would they do if someone was wanking in a bush anywhere else?

You can forbid wanking, but I'm not sure how you could forbid leering. How would you define it? I guess you could have a strict "two complaints and you're out" policy - no proof, no discussion, if two people say "I don't like having to share the beach with X because I find their behaviour intimidating" then they have to leave without any discussion or defence.

I agree to the children being covered up in this instance.

You're not going to let your children run about nude if they might be photographed

its not the fault of the beach that perverts go there

Yes, the police need to do something about it!

Can you imagine any other scenario where some perv was in a bush wanking to the public? And the council are clearly concerned there may be paedophiles there!

Why would they not sort this out? What would they do if this was a 'normal' beach??? Confused

Are there no other beaches you could go to instead. Do you need all the beaches, and the nudists need none?

I think there needs to be something done about the antisocial behaviour but thats not down to nudism itself surely?

The beach may not be any less full of perverts even if they had bikinis on.

Is it the perverts you are against or the nudists? Which group are causing the fall in house prices?

It's very sad that it's not being policed. people being nude is not a reason for the perverts to get away with wanking at people. this would not be tolerated anywhere else so why here?

very sad that the children should have to cover up rather than.the situation actually be dealt with.

YABU

What need to be banned is the pervy al fresco wankers (that would be an offence in the UK, is there a similar one in Australia).

Not a naturist beach.

I'm not suprised the ordinary users of the beach are pissed off at having their practice chipped away at.

The council needs to get rid of the nuisance, and then the naturists (of all ages, including children) can use the beach as intended.

Its the perverts that are to blame but I don't know how you would stop them without banning nude sunbathing.
I've been on holiday to one place several times, where the beaches are mixed nude and clothed. I think people would sunbathe nude there because it had huge quite beautiful beaches so didn't feel as worried to try it. One year we went to a different hotel and beach only a couple of miles away and found this stuff going on. We were ShockShock apparently it was well known by locals for that type of behaviour
On the other beaches you'd see full families nude, or just the parents with kids covered but at this one it was only the weirdos and a few unsuspecting tourists.

What is this sudden influx of weird haiku-troll like nudistfriendfinderorg? Confused

Is it spam? Do they all have URL NNs? I'm going to have to trawl back and find out now. Little weirdos.

Apols for derail OP. The tiny trolls are just so pointless and distracting Hmm

We accidentally wandered into such a wankers' beach in Spain

I've been to two nudist beaches in my life. The first one totally accidental, seemed a nice, remote small cove and when we finally reached it I realised noone had clothes on. People seemed nice, no wanking.

Went to Studland Bay once. Hadn't meant to go to the nudist part but we couldn't get parked for miles and ended up at the nudist end. It seemed fine. Didn't notice any pervs. I have read in the paper that the police have had a crackdown on pervy wankers hiding in the dunes. I think if it's policed properly then there shouldn't be issues like you describe OP.

The police don't need a 24/7 presence. Just a commitment that they will go in heavy for a few weeks. Pervs get the message and go. After that frequent, unannounced visits and heavy penalties for wankers.

Better still, the legitimate naturists should reclaim their facility from the sexual voyeurs and exhibitionists.

There's a nudist beach near me, I've never been (only walked near there as its bushland). It's a known place for men to look for sexual encounters. I would be scared to go there as its also isolated and a man was murdered there last year (werrong beach nsw).

Maybe you could suggest to the local council that the beach only be nudist on certain days of the week? Surely the majority of residents don't use it (I don't think there are that many nudists in comparison to non nudists.).

enjoy nudist lifestyle on nudist resorts

It's quite the fashion this week.

But back to the point about beaches - would a petition help? Sometimes democracy needs a nudge.

Well-said. I am a fairly traditional kind of person but I think nudists (naturists?) should be free to establish their own spaces.

The perverts should perhaps be managed by some kind of membership fee and associated patrol.

Good idea about membership and patrol but to be really frank I get the impression the whole community of nudists here is a bit pervy. It's a very small town. Many of them aren't regulars and the area has a reputation for hook-ups and dogging.

Why can't there be nude Police patrolling said beach, cautioning and arresting the wankers?

Batshit lol....the point is...that what I'm saying is that in fact the majoity of the nudist community here seem happy with the pervy nature of the place. As I said, Dogging is common. It needs stopping if you ask me.
